Job Description

An Anesthesia Technician 15D25 plays a critical role in the smooth functioning of surgical procedures by supporting anesthesiologists and the surgical team. This position requires expertise in setting up and maintaining anesthesia equipment, as well as monitoring patients' responses to anesthesia. The Anesthesia Technician ensures that all anesthesia supplies are prepared and available, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of surgical operations. This role is pivotal in maintaining patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process, and it requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.


Responsibilities

  • Assist anesthesiologists in setting up equipment and preparing for anesthesia administration.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot anesthesia machines and related equipment efficiently.
  • Prepare and monitor the supply of gases and other anesthetic agents required for procedures.
  • Ensure all necessary anesthesia supplies are cleaned, stocked, and available when needed.
  • Assist in positioning patients safely and comfortably for anesthesia administration and surgery.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and responses to anesthesia during the surgical procedures.
  • Record detailed notes on anesthesia procedures and patient responses accurately and timely.
  • Implement infection control practices and ensure cleanliness of anesthesia equipment.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient operation workflow.
  • Stay updated with current best practices in anesthesia technology and patient care techniques.
  • Provide post-operative support in terms of equipment cleaning and patient care guidance.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain proficiency and certification standards.

Requirements

  • Certification as an Anesthesia Technician or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of anesthesia equipment and its maintenance practices.
  • Proven experience working in surgical settings or hospital environments is preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of patient safety and anesthesia protocols and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are essential.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in high-stress surgical environments effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a surgical team.
