Job Description

A Polisher is responsible for polishing and finishing surfaces of furniture, fixtures, and other items within the hotel premises to ensure they meet the property’s standards for aesthetics and quality. This includes maintaining the appearance of wood, metal, and other materials used throughout the hotel, ensuring a high level of detail and finish.

What will I be doing?

As a Polisher, you are responsible for maintaining and improving woodwork in the hotel to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience. A Polisher will also be required to make minor repairs. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Apply polishing paints and coatings to high-traffic public area surfaces (floors, walls, furniture, brass railings, elevator panels, wood veneers etc.).
  • Prepare surfaces for polishing by cleaning, sanding, or buffing as needed to ensure optimal adhesion and luxury-grade finish.
  • Select appropriate low-odor, fast-drying, guest-safe polishing paints and coatings based on surface type, usage, and desired appearance.
  • Use painting and polishing equipment such as brushes, rollers, sprayers, and polishing machines safely, quietly, and with protective barriers in guest-facing areas.
  • Apply polishing paints and coatings evenly and accurately to achieve a smooth, consistent, high-gloss or satin finish.
  • Follow manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines when handling and applying polishing paints and coatings, prioritizing VOC-compliant and eco-friendly products.
  • Inspect finished surfaces for quality and touch up scuffs, fingerprints, or minor damages immediately in public areas.
  • Coordinate with other members of the engineering team to schedule PPM during off-peak hours and prioritize public area projects.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper storage, disposal of materials, and protection of surrounding carpets/fixtures.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and hygiene regulations while working near F&D, SPA, Guestrooms or Lobby areas.
  • Communicate effectively with operation department, Front Office, Housekeeping, and F&D team regarding project progress, urgent touch-ups, and any issues encountered.
  • Stay updated on new polishing techniques, luxury materials, and equipment to enhance skills and efficiency.
  • Provide input on material selection for optimal durability and aesthetic results in high-touch zones.
  • Collaborate with other departments for non-disruptive scheduling of public area projects.
  • Keep records of materials used, project progress, and before/after photos for PPM documentation.
  • Collaborate with carpenters and other maintenance team to assist in the repair or refurbishment of items before polishing in public areas, when necessary.
  • Support colleagues with tasks as needed, including urgent public area touch-ups.

  • Proficient in using hand tools and power tools relevant to polishing work, including safe operation at height (ladders, scaffolding).
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to achieve flawless, luxury-standard finishes under time pressure.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a team in public areas.
