Fiberglass Technician

Key Responsibilities

·         Preparing molds by applying waxes or lacquers, then apply layers of fiberglass matting soaked in plastic resin to the molds.

·         Applying and layering fiberglass matting with resin to achieve the desired thickness, then press and smooth out wrinkles and air bubbles with rollers or brushes.

·         Smoothing and curing the material

·         Trimming cured materials to specifications using tools like diamond-impregnated cutoff wheels and hand shears.

·         Inspect finished products for thickness, density, and overall quality

·         Repair damaged or defective fiberglass parts by checking dimensions and ensuring a proper fit after repair.

Qualifications

·         Proven experience with fiberglass lamination and composite manufacturing or repair.

boat manufacturing or a related industry.

·         Familiarity with boat assembly and working on boat molds

·         Knowledge of tools and equipment used in fiberglass fabrication.

·         Familiarity with gelcoat application

·         Strong understanding of quality control and safety standards.

·         Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
