Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Marine Electrical Engineer to design, develop, install, and maintain electrical systems and equipment onboard ships, offshore platforms, and other marine vessels. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of maritime electrical systems, international maritime regulations, and safety protocols. You will work closely with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and shipyard personnel to ensure the reliable and safe operation of all onboard electrical systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical systems for ships and offshore structures, including power generation, distribution, lighting, and automation systems.

  • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems during new builds, retrofits, or repair projects.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, including control systems, navigation systems, and communication equipment.

  • Ensure compliance with international maritime standards and classification society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV, IMO, SOLAS).

  • Perform load analysis, fault analysis, and safety evaluations for electrical systems.

  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation using CAD and electrical design software.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, naval architects, and project managers.

  • Conduct inspections, routine maintenance, and upgrade work on marine electrical systems.

  • Support procurement by reviewing technical bids and evaluating suppliers.

  • Stay updated with emerging marine electrical technologies and regulations.



Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in marine electrical systems (shipbuilding, offshore, or naval sectors).

  • Certifications (preferred but not mandatory): STCW, ETO Certificate, DP Maintenance, etc.

  • Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP, etc.).

  • Familiarity with international maritime regulations and electrical classification standards.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Willingness to travel or work onboard vessels or offshore when needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automation and control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA, HMI).

  • Knowledge of hybrid propulsion systems, battery storage, and green energy solutions in marine settings.

  • Hands-on experience with maintenance and commissioning of marine electrical systems.

  • Understanding of cybersecurity in shipboard electrical systems.



Work Environment:

  • Shipyards, onboard vessels, or office-based engineering departments.

  • May require working at sea for extended periods.
