Job Summary

We are looking for a Commis 1, who will be responsible for preparing a consistent high-quality food product. In this role, you have to ensure courteous, professional, efficient and flexible service and company operational standards. You will be also responsible for assisting the Demi Chef de Partie and Head Chef in cooking and ensuring that all stations are clean. The care you devote to all aspects of food preparation will result in the creation of spectacular cuisine.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare an adequate level of mise-en-place based on business levels
  • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods
  • Oversee subordinate personnel in the preparation, cooking and handling of food
  • May plan menus, determine the size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies
  • Follow the company policies and procedures and food hygiene policies
  • Coordinate and participate with other sections of requirements, cleanliness, wastage and cost control
  • Ensure all the stocks are well-maintained
  • Ensure the proper sanitation and cleanliness of surfaces and storage containers
  • Inform F&B service staff of available items and available chef's special menu
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist
  • Test foods to ensure proper preparation and temperature
  • Work according to the menu specifications by the Head Chef
  • Need to be flexible and willing to help other businesses at busy times as and when required

Requirements:

  • Willingness to learn new skills, great attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Food Safety & Hygiene Certification
  • High school education or a diploma in culinary is required
  • Self-motivated, positive team player
  • Be Customer Focus first
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Ability to move and lift to 25 lbs.
