The Workshop Supervisor plays a pivotal role in maintaining the efficiency and quality of operations within a workshop. This position requires a keen understanding of mechanical processes and a strong capability in managing personnel to ensure smooth, productive workflow in accordance with company standards and safety regulations. The Workshop Supervisor will oversee workshop activities, manage job orders, and lead a team of technicians and support staff. In addition to technical oversight, this role demands significant people management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders. The ideal candidate should possess both technical proficiency and leadership capabilities to motivate and guide their team towards achieving operational excellence and high-level performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all day-to-day workshop operations effectively and efficiently.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery within the workshop.
• Ensure all workshop activities are performed in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Plan and allocate work assignments to workshop staff based on skills and operational needs.
• Monitor the progress of jobs to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
• Assess, maintain, and manage the inventory of workshop tools and materials actively.
• Conduct regular safety audits and equipment inspections to prevent hazards and faults.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate performance of workshop employees for skill enhancement.
• Coordinate with external vendors for procurement and servicing of workshop equipment.
• Prepare and submit detailed reports on workshop operations and productivity to management.
• Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflow processes and efficiency.
• Develop cost-effective solutions and strategies to achieve operational targets and budgets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years experience working within a workshop or industrial environment.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing and supervising technical teams.
• Strong knowledge of workshop equipment, tools, and maintenance processes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations applicable to workshop environments.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for team and stakeholder interaction.
• Proficiency in using various computer applications such as MS Office and ERP systems.
