Job Description

The role of a Workshop Manager is critical in ensuring the smooth operation and management of a workshop environment. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, managerial skills, and leadership abilities to oversee the production or service offered by the workshop. As a Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for managing daily activities, coordinating between different teams, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining a safe work environment. This role demands a proactive and organized individual who can handle multiple responsibilities concurrently while making decisions that align with the company's operational and strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mechanical systems, possess strong problem-solving skills, and be able to lead a team towards achieving targeted outcomes efficiently.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the workshop to ensure productivity.
  • Coordinate with team members and departments to streamline workflow processes.
  • Develop and implement systems to track workshop performance and progress.
  • Ensure that all equipment and tools are well-maintained and operational.
  • Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage workshop inventory and procure materials and parts as needed.
  • Schedule and assign work to technicians and supervise their activities closely.
  • Monitor and manage repair and maintenance budgets effectively and efficiently.
  • Facilitate training and development programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Liaise with clients to understand their needs and provide excellent service delivery.
  • Prepare reports on workshop activities and performance for upper management review.
  • Resolve conflicts or complaints and maintain a positive working environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience working in a workshop environment, ideally in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and related equipment.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and influence a team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and time management.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with clients and team members.
