About The Role

Based at Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai, the Waiter/ess will be part of our Netsu Restaurant. The Waiter/ess will perform all operational tasks and duties under the guidance of restaurant managers and supervisors, with the ultimate goal of delivering exceptional food and beverage service and delighting every guest.

As a Waiter, You Will

  • Understand the restaurant’s concept, menu, and offerings, and be able to confidently explain them to guests.
  • Ensure mise en place is prepared and maintained throughout the shift, including setup and cleaning of both front and back of house areas, as well as preparation and organization of service equipment.
  • Accurately operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to take food and beverage orders.
  • Deliver prompt and attentive service by identifying and anticipating guest needs.
  • Conduct all duties in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Consistently up-sell food and beverage offerings to enhance the guest experience and increase revenue.
  • Handle all payment methods, including MOHG gift cards, and follow all cashiering policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all dishes and beverages are served in accordance with hotel standards and presentation guidelines.
  • Maintain restaurant equipment and tools in good condition through proper handling and cleaning.
  • Assist in stock management including receiving and organizing items like linens, dry goods, and beverages.
  • Stay updated on menu knowledge, promotions, and product offerings.
  • Communicate special guest preferences, allergies, or dietary restrictions to the kitchen and management team.
  • Support other outlets or teams when required, as directed by the Restaurant Manager.
  • Follow up on guest requests and feedback to ensure satisfaction and resolve any issues efficiently.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth and seamless operations.
  • Observe guests closely and use body language cues to enhance service delivery and guest experience.
  • Greet guests warmly with a natural smile and a genuine, welcoming approach.
  • Create memorable moments through personal touches, going above and beyond to surprise and delight guests.
  • Deliver service in alignment with Mandarin Oriental’s Legendary Quality Experience (LQE) standards and company values.

What We Expect From You

  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality, Hotel, or Business Management is an advantage.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a high-end or high-volume restaurant, ideally within a luxury hotel environment.
  • A strong passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences.
  • Knowledge of fine dining and casual dining service techniques is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with restaurant POS systems and cashiering procedures is preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and maintain composure in a busy environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Basic computer literacy including MS Office is desirable.
