About The Job

We are seeking a Head of Commercial Excellence to lead strategic initiatives that enhance revenue performance and operational effectiveness within our Merchant Acquiring business. This senior leadership role will focus on optimizing go-to-market strategy, enhancing sales productivity, improving merchant lifecycle economics, and driving commercial scalability in a rapidly evolving payments landscape. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in payments and acquiring, understands the commercial dynamics of merchant services, and can translate business goals into clear, data-driven action plans. You will work closely with Sales, Product, Marketing, Risk, and Finance to deliver sustainable growth across SME and enterprise merchant segments

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Strategy & Go-to-Market Excellence
  • Define and execute the commercial strategy for acquiring, targeting key verticals, segments, and geographies.
  • Drive market segmentation, channel mix optimization (direct, partners, digital), and merchant onboarding strategies.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce merchant acquisition cost (CAC) and increase merchant lifetime value (LTV). Sales Performance & Revenue Growth
  • Partner with sales leadership to design and implement sales operating models, performance metrics, and incentive structures.
  • Enhance sales enablement through training, playbooks, and market intelligence to boost productivity and conversion rates.
  • Identify opportunities to improve yield from existing merchant base via cross-sell, upsell, and usage optimization. Data, Insights & Performance Management
  • Build and manage dashboards and performance reporting for new signups, volume growth, retention, and profitability.
  • Leverage data to forecast merchant behavior, optimize sales funnels, and track return on commercial initiatives.
  • Introduce benchmarking and predictive metrics across merchant segments and channels. Bundling & Profitability
  • Lead strategic initiatives around bundling, discounting, and volume-based pricing strategies to support commercial goals.
  • Monitor cost-to-serve and profitability by merchant type to guide commercial decisions. Operational Excellence & Sales Enablement
  • Streamline merchant onboarding, contracting, and activation processes in partnership with operations and risk teams.
  • Oversee implementation and adoption of CRM tools, lead management platforms, and workflow automation.
  • Lead continuous improvement programs to reduce friction across the merchant journey. Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership
  • Act as a key advisor to senior management, providing strategic insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate across functions to ensure full alignment between product roadmap, marketing campaigns, and field execution.
  • Lead and grow a high-performing commercial excellence team with deep domain expertise.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Industry Experience: 10+ years in commercial, GTM, or revenue strategy roles, ideally within payments or merchant acquiring.
  • Deep understanding of acquiring, card schemes, interchange models, and fee structures.
  • Proven experience in merchant acquiring, payment processing, or related financial services industry.
  • Past experience in managing Acquiring Pricing / merchant pricing / commercial models
