Role: Pharmacy Technician (UAE National)
Role Purpose
Support pharmacists in delivering safe, effective, and high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients, in compliance with DHA regulations and facility standards.[
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including compounding, packaging, and labeling, under direct supervision.
- Receive, process, and fill prescriptions accurately; ensure all physician orders are verified by a pharmacist before dispensing.
- Maintain and organize pharmacy inventory, monitor stock levels, and report shortages or expired medications.
- Prepare sterile IV medications and extemporaneous preparations as directed by the pharmacist.
- Process insurance claims, billing, and maintain accurate records of medication dispensed and inventory.
- Provide clear information to patients on medication instructions and potential side effects, referring complex queries to the pharmacist.
- Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and safety protocols, including the handling of controlled and semi-controlled medications (which must not be dispensed by technicians).
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy environment.
- Participate in quality assurance, safety, and process improvement initiatives.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training as required by DHA and the employer.
Qualifications & DHA Requirements
- Diploma or certificate in Pharmacy Technician program from an accredited institution (minimum one or two years).
- Valid DHA license or eligibility as a Pharmacy Technician.
- UAE Nationals may be considered as fresh graduates.
- Good standing certificate from previous licensing authority (if applicable).
- Strong knowledge of medication names, basic medical terminology, and pharmaceutical calculations.
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with pharmacy management systems.
Supervision & Scope
- Must work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist at all times.
- Not permitted to dispense narcotics, controlled, or semi-controlled medications.
- Responsible for maintaining professional conduct and confidentiality in all interactions.
Professional Development
- Participate in continuous professional development (CPD) activities as required by DHA.
- Stay updated with DHA circulars, guidelines, and best practices in pharmacy operations.
