TYLin is seeking a passionate Transportation Engineering Designer to join our growing Detroit office. This is an exciting opportunity for an early to mid-career engineer—whether you’re a newly minted PE, or an EIT on track to earn licensure in the next year—to make a meaningful impact on high-visibility transit and transportation projects throughout the state.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers to deliver infrastructure that improves safety, accessibility, and community connection. You will gain hands-on experience with:

• Roadway and highway geometric design.
• Site civil engineering, including grading and drainage.
• Utility design and coordination.
• Supporting transportation and transit design packages for the State of Michigan, MDOT, and the City of Detroit.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to bring projects from planning through design and delivery.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline).
• PE license in Michigan or the ability to obtain PE within one year (EITs encouraged to apply).
• Experience in transportation, roadway, or site civil design.
• Working knowledge of design software (MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, etc.).
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
