INTECH Process Automation is looking for a Telecom Rigger to join O&M Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation of appropriate coaxial cables for Audio and video transmission for all telecom systems and telecom equipment all around offshore sites.
- Laying different types of cables within offshore location with its crimping using all necessary tools as per offshore requirements and at different offshore facilities /locations.
- Understanding different cable characteristics data sheets and suitability for each application.
- Termination of all type of cables including armoured cables, CAT cables, networking cables, outdoor cables and indoor cables with its peripherals such as patch panels, routers with appropriate connectors/adapters etc.
- Carry out fiber optic cables splicing, laying, splitters, switches, connectors, adapters etc.
- Telecom and network socket installation and termination.
- Assisting telecom, Engineers in preventive/corrective maintenance at site as needed.
- Laying cable and termination should be conforming to offshore standards, international codes / standards and as per the best engineering practices.
- Assembly and installation of all kind of antennas on telecom towers, roof mounting and performing Antenna adjustment/alignment of C-band, KU Band, KA Band, radio antennas and Microwave antennas etc.
- Ensure use of proper tools and test equipment, inclinometer and other alignment tools while performing the assigned tasks.
- Maintain range equipment and work area.
- Ensure proper inspection and use of personal safety equipment.
- Ensure that all company telecom equipment are well maintained and in safe condition for operation.
- Installation of various antenna mounts as required.
- Perform proper grounding systems.
- Carry out first level test equipment usage and maintenance.
- Rigger shall be familiar with different type of telecom systems such as radios (SSB, UHF, VHF, VSAT, NDB, WIMAX, Microwave SMATV, etc.).
- Supervise for other telecommunication hook-up and installation activities.
- Attend any activities required for the installation of new telecommunication systems or modification of existing telecommunications facilities requirements (e.g. installation, commissioning, maintenance... etc.)
- Familiarity and implementation of the offshore roles and procedures for initiating the permits to work and should be aware of all the PTW types (e.g. Hot PTW, cold PTW, working at heights, etc.) as the technical personnel will act as Performer, performing authority and Area authority as and when required and shall be holding all safety gear, training and certification.
- Full support for the island Telecom Tower in addition to follow up with the contractor who is responsible on maintaining the tower and its shelters.
- Rigger shall be fully equipped with the HSE safety gears and shall acquire any necessary training required for offshore work.
- Familiarity and implementation to the offshore safety / HSE roles and procedures for the new artificial islands.
- Rigger shall provide service to all the Offshore sites area locations including the process area, non-process and upcoming telecommunication systems as needed by company.
Requirements:
Qualification:
- Technical Diploma in Telecom, Electrical, or Mechanical field.
- Certified Rigger (Level I/II/III) from a recognized body (preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years of offshore experience in telecom rigging and installation.
- Proven experience in tower climbing, antenna installation, and cable routing.
- Experience in oil & gas offshore facilities or telecom tower environments is highly preferred.
Rigging & Installation Skills:
- Skilled in rigging, lifting, hoisting, and securing telecom equipment using proper rigging techniques.
- Ability to climb telecom towers, masts, and structures and perform installations at height.
- Installation and alignment of:
1 - Radio antennas (VHF/UHF/SSB).
2 - Microwave & VSAT antennas (C-band, Ku-band, Ka-band).
3 - Installation of antenna mounts, brackets, and support structures.
- Use of inclinometers, alignment tools, and torque tools for accurate antenna positioning.
Cable Installation & Termination:
1 - Laying coaxial, fiber optic, CAT6, armoured, and structured cables.
2 - Cable routing through trays, conduits, and offshore structures.
3 - Crimping, glanding, dressing, and tagging of cables.
- Perform termination of RF connectors, patch panels, network outlets, and telecom sockets.
- Basic knowledge of fiber optic splicing and connectivity.
- Ensure all cable works comply with offshore standards and best practices.
Telecom Systems Familiarity:
- Working knowledge of telecom systems such as VHF, UHF, HF/SSB radios, VSAT, Microwave, WiMAX, SMATV.
- Ability to assist technicians/engineers in installation, testing, and maintenance activities.
Maintenance & Support:
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance of telecom equipment.
- Perform basic fault identification and assist in troubleshooting.
- Maintain tools, rigging gear, and equipment in good working condition.
Safety & Rigging Compliance:
- Strong adherence to offshore HSE standards and procedures.
- Hands-on experience with Permit to Work systems i.e. Hot Work & Cold Work.
- Certified and experienced in working at heights.
- Rigging & lifting operations.
- Use of fall protection systems.
- Ensure proper PPE usage and equipment inspection before tasks.
Grounding & Infrastructure:
- Ability to install earthing/grounding systems for telecom equipment.
- Assist in installation of telecom shelters, towers, and associated infrastructure.
Soft Skills:
- Strong safety awareness and discipline.
- Teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently under supervision.
