Job Description

About Metabolic

Metabolic is a specialist metabolic medicine clinic operating across multiple branches in Dubai, with a London location recently launched and further expansion underway. We run a hybrid model of in-clinic care and digital patient experience, with clinical pillars covering weight management, diabetes and pre-diabetes, cardiovascular risk, and hormonal and thyroid health.

The technology that runs the clinic sits at the centre of how we deliver care. Our EMR, patient-facing apps, clinical hardware integrations, CRM, and cloud infrastructure are not back-office concerns. They are part of the product. This role exists because we need someone who treats them the same way.

The Role

We are looking for a Technology Operations Specialist to join the team full-time in Dubai. You will report directly to the Head of Product and Technology and take ownership of the systems, integrations, and infrastructure that keep the clinic running day to day.

This covers a broad surface area: cloud infrastructure on AWS, our EMR and staff portal, third-party application support, database management, and hands-on IT work including API integrations with clinical hardware such as our body composition machines. As Metabolic opens a third Dubai branch later this year and continues expanding, you will be a core part of making each launch operationally ready from a technology standpoint.

The UK branch is also in scope. You will support it remotely and be expected to travel when required.

This is a mid-level role. You should have three to four years of solid experience and be able to work independently from day one without needing close supervision on technical tasks.

What You Will Own

Cloud Infrastructure

AWS is our primary cloud environment. You will manage and maintain our cloud setup, monitor performance and costs, handle access controls, and support the infrastructure decisions made by the product and technology team. Experience with GCP is a bonus but AWS is where the work is.

EMR and Staff Portal

Our clinical system is the operational heartbeat of the clinic. You will manage user provisioning, troubleshoot issues, support staff when things go wrong, liaise with vendors, and help the team get the most out of the tools we have. As we onboard new branches, you will handle setup and configuration on each.

Third-Party Application Support

We run a stack of integrated tools including our CRM, messaging platforms, telephony, and communication tools. You will own the operational health of these integrations, flag breakages before they escalate, and work with external vendors when issues need escalation. Familiarity with tools like Zoho, and Ziwo is useful. Knowing how to debug an integration that stops working at 8am on a clinic morning is essential.

API and Hardware Integrations

This is one of the more hands-on parts of the role. We use clinical hardware including body composition and BMI machines that need to communicate with our systems via API. You will lead the integration work, test endpoints using tools like Postman, and ensure data flows correctly from the device to our backend. You are comfortable reading API documentation, writing or reviewing basic code, and working through integration issues methodically.

Databases

Our systems run across MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. You are not expected to be a dedicated database administrator, but you need to be comfortable querying, troubleshooting, and maintaining these databases at an operational level. Running a query to investigate a data issue or checking table structure during an integration build should not require a handover.

IT Support and Branch Readiness

When a new branch opens, the hardware needs to be set up, the software needs to be configured, and the staff need to be able to use their tools on day one. You will own the IT readiness for new branch launches and provide ongoing support across our Dubai locations. For the UK branch, this work happens remotely with periodic on-site visits.

Requirements

What We Are Looking For

Experience

  • 3 to 4 years in a technology operations, systems engineering, or similar role
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services — EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, and ideally a broader range
  • Working knowledge of MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB at an operational level
  • Experience supporting or administering SaaS platforms and third-party integrations
  • API integration work using tools like Postman — reading documentation, testing endpoints, debugging responses
  • Familiarity with version control using GitHub and ticket management in Jira
  • Experience with Google Firebase is an advantage

Technical Skills

  • Comfortable working across Windows and Linux environments
  • Able to write and run basic scripts for automation or troubleshooting — Python, Bash, or similar
  • Enough development context to work effectively alongside engineers and understand the implications of infrastructure decisions on the product
  • Solid networking fundamentals — DNS, firewalls, VPNs, access control
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools for cloud environments

Practical Requirements

  • Fluent in English, written and spoken, to a professional standard
  • Based in Dubai and able to commute between our branches as required
  • Available for occasional travel to the UK for on-site support when needed
  • Holds a valid UAE residency visa or is eligible for sponsorship

Ways of Working

  • You are organised and follow through. If you say you will look into something, you look into it and report back
  • You communicate clearly with non-technical colleagues, including clinical staff who do not want a technical explanation, they want to know if the problem is fixed
  • You are calm when things break. Things will break. How you respond matters more than the fact that it happened
  • You document what you do so that the next person does not have to reverse-engineer it

Strong Plus

  • Experience working in a healthcare, clinical, or regulated industry environment
  • Familiarity with EMR or patient management systems — even basic exposure
  • Experience supporting multi-site or multi-country technology operations
  • Exposure to Flutter mobile applications or similar cross-platform frameworks from a support and integration standpoint
  • Certifications in AWS (Solutions Architect, SysOps, or Developer associate level)

What This Role Is Not

This is not a pure IT helpdesk position. You will handle support tasks, but that is a fraction of the job. Equally, it is not a software engineering role. You will work closely with engineers but you are not expected to own production code.

What it is: a broad, operationally critical role where you hold a lot of the systems knowledge that keeps the clinic running. If that kind of ownership appeals to you, read on.

What To Include In Your Application

Send your CV along with a short note covering the following:

  • The AWS services you use most and at what depth
  • A specific integration or systems problem you solved and how you approached it
  • Any experience in a healthcare or clinical environment, even adjacent
