MAIN OBJECTIVE OF ROLE

To be responsible for the planning, execution, and administration of the Calibration Laboratory in alignment with ISO/IEC 17025, ensuring all measuring instruments across the organisation remain calibrated, traceable, and compliant with GCAA/EASA requirements while maintaining effective daily laboratory operations and quality systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees, supports and certifies calibration activities to ensure compliance with GCAA & EASA regulations, manufacturer requirements, and ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
  • Leads the operation, maintenance, and environmental control of calibration laboratories and associated equipment ensuring reliability, accuracy, and availability for Base/Hangar maintenance/operations, workshops, GSE, and line maintenance support functions.
  • Takes responsibility for daily operational requirements of the Calibration Laboratory, ensuring accuracy, reliability, environmental control of instruments, and the effective management and availability of tools, equipment, and consumables required to support aircraft maintenance activities.
  • Develops and execute calibration schedules to ensure all tools and instruments across AMC are calibrated without affecting maintenance tasks.
  • Reviews calibration and tool control procedures, certificates, and measurement uncertainties, to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.
  • Supports internal and external audits by providing tool control and calibration documentation, implementing corrective actions, and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Maintains accurate tool and calibration records within the system, including usage, status, and serviceability.
  • Ensures tools are properly stored, organized, labelled, and readily available to support Base/Hangar maintenance/operations, workshops, GSE, and line maintenance operations, while ensuring they remain serviceable, calibrated, and compliant with regulatory and internal safety standards.
  • Coordinates with Stores, Materials, Procurement, Logistics and approved vendors for tool deliveries, repairs, replacements, and outsourced calibration.
  • Coordinates with the flydubai Stores and Calibration Laboratory to ensure timely calibration of tools, verifying stickers, certificates, and validity before issuance.
  • Conducts regular inventory checks, verify new tools upon receipt following stores acceptance to ensure accuracy, traceability, and serviceability.
  • Tracks and maintains all tools and equipment in accordance with approved tool control and safety procedures.
  • Monitors calibration costs, tool lifecycle, spare parts, and consumables; forecast budget requirements and support procurement for new measurement instruments and replacements.
  • Identifies the training requirement compliance of all Calibration Laboratory personnel to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Ensures safety procedures, laboratory discipline, proper handling of precision instruments, and compliance with environmental and occupational safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (3+ years)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or engineering with Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Aerospace, Automobile, Robotics, Mechatronics or related field.
  • Fluent in English (other languages an advantage)
  • Experience working in Calibration Bay and with knowledge of Tool control preferred Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
  • Preferred - AMOS & MS Office
  • Years with qualifications: 7 - 9 years
  • Holds current company calibration certification approval or equivalent
  • Valid UAE driving license preferred

Isr Requirements

Reads and complies with the ISR policies of the Company and diligently reports any weakness or incidents to the respective Line Manager or the Information Security team. Completes all required ISR awareness sessions and follows associated guidelines in the day-to-day business operations.
