Job Description

A Teaching Assistant is an integral part of the education team, providing support and assistance to lead teachers in managing classroom activities and tailoring educational experiences to meet student needs. This role involves working closely with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts, assist in preparing instructional materials, and manage classroom organization. The Teaching Assistant facilitates a conducive learning environment by supporting students in their academic, social, and emotional development. This position requires patience, adaptability, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with the teaching staff and engage with students effectively. A Teaching Assistant plays a crucial role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning atmosphere that encourages student participation and success.


Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers in planning and delivering lesson plans effectively for students.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, outside breaks, and field trips.
  • Provide individual assistance to students to help them understand and apply concepts.
  • Prepare instructional materials and resources needed for daily classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers to assess student performance and develop improvement strategies.
  • Administer and score tests and other assessments under teacher supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment for students.
  • Support students with diverse learning needs to ensure inclusive education practices.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress when required.
  • Encourage positive social interactions among students and develop conflict resolution skills.
  • Keep accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavior as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or higher in Education or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students and staff.
  • Basic understanding of educational techniques and classroom management methods.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students to achieve goals.
  • Patient, empathetic, and culturally sensitive when interacting with diverse communities.
  • Proficient organizational skills to manage classroom materials and student records effectively.
