Job Description
Senior Associate
Tax Technology & Transformation (TTT)
EY MENA
Purpose
The TTT Senior Associate is an execution-focused, client-facing role responsible for delivering core work products on tax transformation and tax technology engagements across Corporate Tax, Indirect Tax, and Accounting Compliance & Reporting. The role supports client outcomes by preparing and validating data, building analysis and reporting outputs, supporting solution configuration and testing activities, and producing high-quality documentation that enables adoption and sustained use.
The Senior Associate works closely with client Tax/Finance/Technology teams and EY engagement leaders to translate requirements into repeatable deliverables—especially across data/analytics, reporting, implementation support, and user readiness—within a governed delivery framework.
Expected outcomes from the role (measurable “what success looks like”)
Tax & compliance execution outcomes
Produces accurate, well-structured deliverables (requirements notes, mappings, reconciliations, reporting packs, test evidence) with minimal rework and clear traceability from source data to output.
Improves confidence in compliance/reporting outputs by performing structured data checks and documenting results clearly.
Indirect Tax & eInvoicing support outcomes
Supports indirect tax transformation activities through data readiness, validations, and exception identification routines.
Where in scope, supports eInvoicing activities and related reporting validation, including contributions to data-driven VAT reporting frameworks through testing support and data/output checks.
Builds repeatable analysis outputs and dashboards using commonly used analytics/visualization tooling (e.g., Alteryx for data preparation, Tableau for dashboards) supported by SQL validations where required.
AI outcomes (practical support + validation)
Supports AI/GenAI-enabled tax use cases by preparing inputs, documenting requirements and acceptance criteria, and validating outputs against defined checks with appropriate human oversight (execution support expectation).
Client experience outcomes
Builds client trust through responsiveness, clear communication, and reliable follow-through on actions and deliverables.
Expected behaviours (how the role operates)
Client collaboration and co-creation (mandatory)
Works closely with client users to clarify requirements, validate scenarios, and iterate deliverables quickly; communicates progress and blockers proactively.
Ownership and accountability
Takes ownership of assigned tasks end-to-end (analysis, documentation, testing support, evidence) and drives completion through disciplined follow-up.
Quality and precision
Performs self-QA on calculations, data logic, and documentation completeness before submitting for review; escalates data quality issues early.
Learning agility
Learns client systems, datasets, and reporting requirements quickly; applies feedback to improve quality and speed.
Professional integrity & secure delivery (mandatory)
Handles client data securely and maintains confidentiality; follows engagement quality and documentation standards.
Mobility (mandatory)
Willingness to travel across MENA (and occasionally beyond) based on engagement needs.
Technical competencies
Tax and compliance functional capability (execution depth)
Working understanding of tax and compliance reporting needs across Corporate Tax, Indirect Tax, and accounting-related compliance reporting—especially how source data supports returns, filings, and reporting outputs.
Working capability in SQL for extracting/validating data (filters, joins, aggregations), supporting reconciliations and traceability of outputs.
Hands-on ability in analytics and visualization tooling commonly used in tax technology/data analytics contexts such as Alteryx and Tableau (or equivalent tools used on engagements).
Ability to execute data quality checks, reconciliations, exception identification, and document findings clearly.
eInvoicing & digital indirect tax reporting (preferred but valuable)
Awareness of eInvoicing delivery components (data fields, business process impacts, reporting outputs) and ability to support VAT reporting framework validation and testing.
SDLC and testing discipline (required)
Ability to create and maintain delivery artifacts: requirement notes/user stories, data mappings, test scripts, defect logs, and evidence packs; comfort working with technical teams during build/test cycles (execution expectation).
AI/GenAI delivery support (required awareness)
Ability to support AI/GenAI initiatives by preparing validation datasets, defining acceptance criteria, testing output quality, and supporting adoption activities.
Change enablement (execution support)
Ability to support adoption by creating user guides/training materials, capturing user feedback, and supporting handover documentation (execution expectation).
Key responsibilities (what the role does)
Requirements support and documentation (client collaboration)
Support requirements gathering through workshops/working sessions; document requirements, scenarios, and acceptance criteria.
Translate requirements into structured artifacts (process steps, data mapping sheets, rule definitions) and validate with client stakeholders.
Data preparation, validation and reconciliation (hands-on delivery)
Extract and validate data using SQL; perform reconciliations, investigate variances, and document findings clearly.
Prepare repeatable data workflows using Alteryx (or equivalent) to clean, transform, and standardize datasets for reporting/analytics.
Dashboarding and reporting insights (hands-on delivery)
Develop dashboards and reporting outputs using Tableau (or equivalent), ensuring metrics are correctly defined and outputs are refreshable and repeatable.
eInvoicing and VAT reporting support (where applicable)
Support eInvoicing activities: data readiness, mandatory field validation, testing support, and reporting output checks (including data-driven VAT reporting frameworks where in scope).
Testing and implementation support (build-test-deploy)
Prepare SIT/UAT assets: test scenarios, scripts, test data, execution trackers, defect logs, and retest evidence.
Support deployment readiness through checklists, user readiness inputs, and hypercare issue triage.
AI/GenAI use case support
Support AI/GenAI solutions by documenting requirements, preparing validation datasets, validating outputs against acceptance criteria, and supporting adoption readiness activities.
Support Senior Consultant/Assistant Manager/Manager with analysis, documentation, and testing tasks; contribute to internal knowledge capture and reusable assets (execution expectation).
Mobility (mandatory)
Travel across MENA for key workshops and delivery milestones as required.
Qualifications and experience
Required
Typically 2+ years experience in consulting or industry roles involving tax data, finance/tax reporting, analytics, systems support, or technology-enabled process improvement (industry standard).
Working capability with SQL and at least one analytics/visualization tool—preferably Alteryx and/or Tableau—to support reconciliations, dashboards, and reporting outputs.
Demonstrated ability to support testing cycles (SIT/UAT), manage defects, and produce clear documentation for software-enabled solutions (execution expectation).
Preferred
Experience supporting eInvoicing and VAT digital reporting initiatives, including data-driven VAT reporting frameworks.
Exposure to AI/GenAI-enabled delivery support activities (validation, adoption support, quality checks with human oversight).
Relevant certifications aligned to role focus (data/analytics, SQL, visualization tools, agile/testing) (recommendation).
