TALENT DEVELOPMENT INSTRUCTOR

This full-time (40 hours per week) position is in compensation Pay Range D that pays from $45,489 to $63,677 annually, plus fringe benefits, including healthcare benefits, retirement plans with employer match, financial wellness program, tuition reimbursement, paid holidays, and accrued time off . Starting wage is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

ACSET OVERVIEW: ACSET is the administrative and fiscal agent for the Michigan Works! Agency of Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon and Ottawa Counties. West Michigan Works! mission is to lead workforce development strategy and resource alignment in West Michigan by understanding the talent needs of employers and employment needs of job seekers and connecting them to solutions.
Job Summary
The Talent Development Instructor provides up to date instruction to participants across all Michigan Works! programs on a variety of topics which may include job seeking skills, job retention skills, and employability skills. This position provides an engaging and comfortable learning environment that will enable each participant to be competent in the workshop outcomes. Responsibilities are carried out according to established procedures with latitude for initiative and independent judgement.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct group workshops.
Provide job seeking skills, job retention skills, and employability skills training to West Michigan Works! job seekers.
Provide job seeking skills, job retention skills, and employability skills training to participants in community partner programs.
Provide feedback to Career Coach staff on individual’s workshop attendance, assessment outcomes and existing skills.
Instruct participants individually and in groups, using various teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
Utilize a variety of engagement strategies during workshops to promote interaction among job seekers.
Research and stay up to date with trends in job seeking skills to ensure workshops are presenting accurate and timely information.
Assist in the development of curriculum and materials to be used in workshops. Monitor job seekers’ interest and aptitude and adjust workshops to their needs as necessary.
Confer with Career Coaches and Talent Development Specialists to discuss participant’s progress and determine priorities for participant resource needs.
Monitor and report participants participation, compliance, and scheduling to meet program requirements.
Evaluate participants’ support service needs to enhance employability and coordinate with Career Coaches to assure their needs are met.
Document relevant participant information into various data management systems.
Attend professional development activities, trainings, and seminars.
Actively participate in continuous quality improvement processes.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
The job requires knowledge normally acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree with Teaching Certificate preferred.
Two to four years’ experience in workforce development, or an equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
Knowledge of information technology, Microsoft Office Suite, and telecommunication hardware.
Proficient in typing, word processing, and use of the internet.
Ability to effectively interact and teach participants at various educational levels.
Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate in both oral and written form with prior experience in public speaking.
Communication and organizational skills that contribute to a quality work environment and the ability to work as a team.
Planning and time management skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, state and local agencies, and the general public.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain confidentiality while providing patient, friendly, and participant centered services.
Physical ability to sit in one position for extended periods of time.
Knowledge of relevant human service programs, policies, resources, and procedures.
Ability to speak a language other than English is desirable.
Familiar with online job search and networking tools.
Working Conditions
Normal office environment with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust, and the like.
Local or statewide travel may occasionally be required.
