Required Abilities, Qualifications And Experience

• Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
• Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Educations current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.
• Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
• Demonstrated knowledge of, experience teaching, and understanding of the Career Life Education 11 curriculum.
• English degree or major
• Experience teaching English at the Secondary School Level
• Demonstrated passion and commitment to engage students in exploring post-secondary options through Career Life Education
• Demonstrated ability to consistently incorporate a wide range of effective classroom management strategies that maintain the dignity of students with an emphasis on a proactive approach
• demonstrated experience with the UDL framework planning for access points and success for all learners
• demonstrated experience with the RTI framework to support student learning
• demonstrated experience in reading, contributing to, and fulfillment of Individual Education Plans
• demonstrated experience and continued commitment to honoring First Peoples Principles of Learning and the Indigenization of curriculum in Career Life Education and English at a secondary level
• demonstrated ability to work in a trauma-informed capacity
• An exemplary work ethic with proven ability to work as an effective team member
• Demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for developing positive relationships with adolescents
• Proven ability organizational and time management skills, creative problem solving skills, effective team building skills and strong communication skills
• Willingness to work in a collaborative manner with staff, administration and parents
