System Assurance Manager - 100% (m/f)
The Ideal Candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in systems assurance, quality assurance, or safety management within the transportation industry, preferably in metro or rail projects and operations. The candidate should be comfortable leading a team, working with senior management, engaging with clients when required, and managing the status of assurance activities. We are seeking a professional with a strong track record in RAM, System Safety, Configuration Management, Requirements Management, EMC, Human Factors & Ergonomics, Fire Life Safety, VTA, Security Management, and related assurance disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for all Systems Assurance matters across the project.
- Lead and manage the overall Systems Assurance programme, ensuring alignment with project requirements, applicable standards, client expectations, and delivery milestones.
- Manage and coordinate RAMS activities, including hazard identification and risk assessment (HAZID/HAZOP), Safety Integrity Level Assessment (SIL), Functional Safety Assessment, Safety Verification and Validation, and Safety Case development.
- Oversee RAM modelling and prediction analysis, Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD), Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Corrective and Preventative Maintenance Analysis, and Availability Modelling.
- Plan and coordinate RAM Demonstration Testing, Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Defect Liability Period (DLP) activities, and other RAMS studies and analyses.
- Apply relevant systems assurance standards, including EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, EN 50176, IEC 61508, and other applicable standards and project requirements.
- Review and support the acceptance of RAMS and system assurance deliverables, ensuring compliance with project, client, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary rail systems and civil engineering teams, including rolling stock, signalling and train control, traction power, track works, platform screen doors, automatic fare collection, depot equipment, operations control centre, MEP, civil, structural, and architectural disciplines.
- Support requirements management, configuration management, safety assurance, and interface coordination activities in line with the overall system assurance process.
- Prepare and present assurance status reports, technical summaries, risks, actions, and progress updates to project leadership, clients, and relevant stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with client representatives and project teams, while maintaining the flexibility required to complete RAMS and system assurance tasks within tight delivery timelines.
- Travel across the Middle East and India where required for project coordination, meetings, reviews, and delivery support.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline. Membership of an appropriate professional institution is preferred.
- Overall experience of 10 to 15 years, including at least 7 years of full-time experience performing RAMS and systems assurance works on rail transportation systems.
- Experience in mainline freight railway, passenger railway, metro, LRT, or other rail transportation environments.
- Strong knowledge of systems assurance, RAMS, system safety, safety management, quality assurance, verification and validation, and assurance lifecycle processes.
- Experience in the application of systems assurance standards such as EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, EN 50176, IEC 61508, and equivalent standards.
- Experience in Safety Case development and management within a railway environment.
- Experience with the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) process and coordination of ISA-related reviews, comments, evidence, and close-out actions.
- Hands-on experience with system assurance and systems engineering tools such as Isograph Reliability Workbench (RWB), Isograph Availability Workbench (AVSim+), DOORS, ComplyPro, or equivalent platforms.
- Familiarity with SA tools such as DOORS and/or ComplyPro is required.
- Experience or knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility assurance studies, human factors, fire life safety management, life cycle cost analysis, software management, and security management.
- Understanding of requirements management and configuration management in relation to RAMS and systems assurance deliverables.
- Strong analytical mindset, presentation skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to interact effectively with specialist and non-specialist technical team members, clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Good computer skills in MS Office and relevant specialised software tools.
- Middle East experience is preferred.
