About Bureau Veritas

Bureau Veritas is a world leader in testing, inspection and certification services, operating in 140+ countries. Our mission — Shaping a World of Trust — connects deeply with sustainability. Our Sustainability Transition Services team across the Middle East, Caspian & Africa (MCA) helps organizations measure, manage, and improve their environmental and social performance, covering carbon and climate, ESG reporting and assurance, green buildings, supply chain, and industrial sustainability.

ROLE PURPOSE

As a Sustainability Professional within Bureau Veritas MCA, you will support client projects and internal initiatives that enable organisations to measure, manage, and improve their environmental and social performance. You will contribute to the delivery of sustainability services while developing your technical expertise and advisory capabilities under the guidance of experienced professionals and Bureau Veritas Global Sustainability Programme tutors.

Role Context & Responsibilities

As a Sustainability Associate (Buildings & Infrastructure) within Bureau Veritas MCA, you will be the first dedicated B&I sustainability professional in your area — a pioneer role. You will support the delivery of green building certification, sustainability assessments, energy audits, and B&I sustainability services for real estate developers, construction companies, development finance institutions and multinational operators. You will report to the Area B&I Product Line Manager and receive structured mentorship from the MCA regional sustainability team through BVs Global Sustainability Programme.

  • Support delivery of green building certification programmes (EDGE, LEED, BREEAM, HQE) for real estate, hospitality and infrastructure clients in the area
  • Conduct sustainability assessments, energy audits and environmental compliance reviews for buildings and infrastructure projects
  • Collect and analyse building performance data — energy, water, waste, indoor environment quality — for certification and reporting
  • Assist in preparing technical proposals, scope of work documents and client deliverables for B&I sustainability mandates
  • Liaise with clients, architects, project managers and development finance institutions on green certification requirements
  • Support ESG baseline assessments and sustainability advisory for listed or DFI-funded clients in the area
  • Contribute to B&I pipeline development alongside the Area Sales Leader and Area Sustainability Lead
  • Participate in the Green Buildings Technical Tribe and monthly MCA thematic training sessions

Programme Responsibilities (all Academy Hires)

  • Project Delivery — Enable the simplification of sustainability complexity across carbon accounting, climate change adaptation, product circularity, renewable energy, supply chain resilience, and ESG reporting — giving clients the confidence to make more sustainable choices.
  • Support project delivery through research, data analysis, and client material preparation, leveraging Bureau Veritas proprietary tools, methodologies, and AI-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate across teams to engage with clients, assess risks, ensure compliance, and solve critical sustainability challenges that help organisations transform and operationalise their transition journey.
  • Technical Learning & Application — Understand sustainability standards and frameworks (ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, SBTi, LCA, IFRS S1/S2) as well as regulations (EU CBAM, ETS) applicable to the role and area.
  • Apply technical knowledge to real projects under supervision, demonstrating attention to detail and analytical rigour.
  • Continuous Learning — Actively participate in Bureau Veritass Global Sustainability Programme throughout the programme duration.

EDUCATION

Masters or Bachelors degree (university, engineering school, business school, or equivalent) in one of the following or related areas:

  • Preferred — STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)*
  • Environmental Science or Sustainability Management
  • Chemical, Civil, Industrial or Environmental Engineering
  • Energy Systems, Climate Science or Renewable Energy
  • Business, Economics or Data Analytics with a strong sustainability focus

Experience

  • Recent graduate OR up to 2 years of professional experience — this is an entry-level programme role
  • Previous experience in ESG or sustainability is appreciated but not required (e.g. internship, dissertation or academic project in sustainability)
  • Desirable familiarity with one or more of the following: carbon footprinting, LCA, energy audits, ESG reporting, or supply chain sustainability
  • Interest in or exposure to green building certification schemes (EDGE, LEED, BREEAM, HQE) through coursework or internship is valued

Core Skills

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills — structured thinking and data-driven decision making
  • Effective communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • English B2+ — Upper Intermediate level minimum (additional languages are a plus)
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn BV digital tools
  • Strong writing skills for report preparation and client communication
  • Good understanding of building energy performance, construction materials and project delivery processes
