Responsibilities

  • Prepare all types of sushi, including maki, nigiri, and sashimi, with precision.
  • Design and create innovative sushi dishes catering to customer preferences.
  • Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to meet restaurant goals and demands.
  • Ensure the freshness and quality of all ingredients used in food preparation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to avoid shortages.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and nutritional guidelines diligently.
  • Engage and coordinate with customers for special orders and catering requests.
  • Develop seasonal and promotional sushi menus to increase sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage kitchen budget effectively, minimizing waste and optimizing expenses.
  • Keep abreast of new sushi trends and incorporate them into the menu creatively.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a restaurant.
  • Strong knowledge of sushi preparation and Japanese culinary traditions.
  • Excellent knife skills with attention to detail and presentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with staff and customers.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and during peak business hours.
  • Certification in culinary arts or relevant training in sushi-making techniques.
