We are currently seeking experienced  

Substation Automation Site Engineer (m/f/d) Topside 

to support the Site Management Topside Construction project, starting approx. April 2026, for an estimated duration till 2030.  

This freelance role is onshore-based at Port Rashid, Dubai, operating on a Shiftsystem or with potential weekend assignments depending on operational requirements. 

As part of your role, you will be entrusted with the following responsibilities: 

• Overseeing the installation and cabling of protection and control systems (IEDs) as well as communication, SCADA, and metering systems. 
• Coordinating closely with the Protection & Control team and Communication/SCADA/Metering disciplines. 
• Monitoring installation progress, reviewing documentation, and supervising safety measures on site. 
• Supporting and reviewing secondary system activities, including: 
• Parameterization and configuration of protection devices 
• Programming and testing of commands, status signals, and measurements 
• Network and communication setup, including fiber-optic links and data protocols 
• SCADA visualization/HMI against project specifications 
• Signal testing from “source to drain” 
• Acting as the on-site contractor representative (CR) for secondary systems. 
• Reporting and following up on non-conformities (NC) and HSE issues and tracking punch items using dedicated tools. 
• Participating in ITP witness/hold points, testing, commissioning activities, and HAT.

• A technical background, gained either through a university degree in electrical engineering (Master’s/Dipl.-Ing.) or through a completed apprenticeship, technical qualification, or comparable professional training combined with relevant work experience
• Having several years of experience as a contractor representative (CR) on large-scale construction sites, preferably 5+ years. 
• Having hands-on experience with installation of secondary systems in cabinets/rooms, including testing and commissioning. 
• Demonstrating experience in parameterization of protection relays and configuration of SCADA and communication systems. 
• Showing strong knowledge of applicable standards and regulations (DIN VDE, IEC, offshore guidelines). 
• Demonstrating solid documentation skills and experience in non-conformity management. 
• Being business-fluent in English. 
• Having a permanent residence in Dubai or demonstrating willingness to relocate to Dubai for the duration of the project. 
  
  

Nice to Have:

• Holding electrical authorization according to DIN VDE 0105-100. 
• Having experience as a Site Manager. 
• Being fluent in German and/or Arabic. 
• Having prior experience in offshore or substation automation projects.
