Role Overview

The Structural Inspector (Bridges) will be responsible for monitoring, supervising, and inspecting structural works on bridge and roadway infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on RTA standards and requirements.

The role ensures that all bridge-related structural works, including foundations, substructures, superstructures, and associated civil elements, are executed in full compliance with approved drawings, specifications, RTA standards, and applicable local and international codes. The inspector will provide on-site technical oversight, identify non-conformances, and ensure the highest levels of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and supervise structural works related to bridges and associated infrastructure, including:
    • Piles and foundations
    • Abutments, piers, and retaining structures
    • Deck slabs, girders, bearings, and expansion joints
    • Precast and cast-in-place concrete elements
    • Structural steel and post-tensioning works
  • Verify compliance of construction activities with approved drawings, technical specifications, RTA standards, and relevant international codes.
  • Review and approve inspection requests (IRs), method statements, material submittals, and shop drawings related to bridge structural works.
  • Conduct site inspections for:
    • Reinforcement and formwork
    • Concrete casting and curing
    • Post-tensioning operations
    • Structural steel erection and finishing works
  • Review and verify contractor as-built drawings for accuracy and compliance.
  • Identify, record, and report non-conformances; recommend corrective actions and ensure timely closure.
  • Prepare daily site inspection reports, progress records, and quality documentation in accordance with RTA and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, RTA representatives, and other stakeholders to resolve technical and site-related issues.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements at all times.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in structural inspection of bridge and road infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience working on RTA projects and familiarity with RTA standards, specifications, and approval processes.
  • Strong knowledge of bridge construction methods, materials, and applicable standards (ACI, AASHTO, BS, ASTM, AISC, or equivalent).
  • Experience with pile foundations, post-tensioned structures, precast elements, and structural steel works.
  • Previous experience with international consulting or engineering firms is preferred.
  • Strong communication and technical reporting skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and digital site inspection/reporting tools.
