Job Description

A Structural Engineer is essential in ensuring the safety, integrity, and durability of construction projects. This role involves analyzing and designing the structural foundations, beams, columns, and other critical components of buildings and infrastructure. The ideal candidate for this position will blend advanced engineering practices with a nuanced understanding of materials and environmental implications. A structural engineer is part of a team that ensures projects meet codes and standards while optimizing cost and quality. Responsibilities

  • Analyze structural drawings and specifications for compliance with design requirements.
  • Design and plan structural elements like foundations, beams, and columns safely.
  • Estimate material cost and project timelines to ensure feasibility and efficiency.
  • Conduct site inspections and prepare reports on any identified building issues.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and project managers to align objectives.
  • Evaluate and recommend modifications based on feasibility and cost considerations.
  • Utilize computer-aided design software to generate detailed structural plans.
  • Conduct structural assessments and prepare reports detailing recommendations and findings.
  • Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal construction regulations.
  • Develop structural models to simulate stresses and environmental impacts on materials.
  • Review and approve project specifications and designs before construction begins.
  • Participate in continuing education to stay abreast of the latest industry advancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred for this position.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a structural engineering role.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) and structural analysis software.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and material science principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with an eye for structural integrity and design.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently and effectively.
