Job Description

A Structural Engineer is a crucial part of the construction and design industry, focusing on ensuring buildings and structures are safe, stable, and sustainable. The role entails the application of engineering principles to design, develop and construct infrastructure like bridges, roads, and buildings. As a Structural Engineer, you will work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers to analyze designs and test building materials to determine specifications and cost-effective project procedures. The Structural Engineer must possess an in-depth knowledge of statics and dynamics, materials science, and geometry, combined with an aptitude for solving complex problems to ensure the success of projects and maintain the safety of all users. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to develop design plans for new structures.
  • Analyze project requirements and evaluate the feasibility of construction designs.
  • Review and assess technical specifications, drawings, and plans for compliance.
  • Use software to simulate structural behavior under various conditions for safety analysis.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation to support project approvals and decisions.
  • Provide on-site supervision and guidance to construction teams during project execution.
  • Inspect existing structures and recommend solutions for identified engineering issues.
  • Ensure all structures comply with regulations and safety standards throughout development.
  • Coordinate with contractors and construction teams for efficient project delivery.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to meet engineering objectives.
  • Conduct risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies to manage project risks.
  • Stay updated with industry developments and incorporate best engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or Chartered Engineer status is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in structural engineering projects.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant engineering design software.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex engineering ideas.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate and optimize structural designs and materials.
  • Thorough understanding of safety regulations and building codes in engineering.
