Job Description

A Structural Design Engineer is a crucial contributor in the field of engineering, responsible for designing safe and efficient infrastructures, ranging from residential buildings to large commercial and industrial structures. This role demands a high level of precision and analytical capabilities to assess structural integrity, compliance with building codes, and the overall feasibility of engineering designs. Structural Design Engineers work closely with architects, project managers, and construction teams to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget, without compromising safety and quality. Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze structural designs for various building projects.
  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to facilitate structural plan creation.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to establish functional criteria.
  • Ensure that structural designs comply with local building codes and regulations.
  • Conduct site visits to assess structural soundness and progress of projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and solutions to construction site teams.
  • Review and modify existing structures and designs for efficiency improvements.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation for regulatory submissions.
  • Evaluate potential risks and develop contingency plans for structural issues.
  • Coordinate with project managers to ensure timely project execution.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and safety regulations in the industry.
  • Assist in budgeting and resource allocation for structural design projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in structural engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) and structural analysis software.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and precision.
  • Good communication and collaboration abilities with diverse teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly advantageous for the role.
