Job Description

As a Structural Design Engineer, you will play a vital role in the development and realization of construction projects, both large and small scale. This position requires a strong understanding of engineering principles and the ability to predict the impact of various environmental factors on structures. You will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity and durability of buildings and infrastructure, working closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers. Collaboration and communication will be key, as you will often be required to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Your expertise will ensure the safe, efficient, and economical design of projects, adhering strictly to regulations and standards.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret project specifications to develop structural design plans.
  • Conduct risk assessments and site inspections to evaluate structural challenges.
  • Utilize computer-aided design software to create detailed structural blueprints.
  • Collaborate with architects and construction teams to align structural designs with project goals.
  • Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Review and approve design calculations and specifications for construction projects.
  • Perform structural evaluations and troubleshooting of existing structures for repair or reinforcement.
  • Prepare and present reports detailing design processes and structural analysis results.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for all engineering designs and follow-ups.
  • Supervise construction phases to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
  • Coordinate project timelines with team members and project managers to meet deadlines.
  • Stay updated with advancements in structural design software and industry practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to obtain one is preferred.
  • Proficiency in structural design and analysis software, such as AutoCAD and SAP2000.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, building codes, and design standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for structural assessments and design.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with non-engineering professionals and stakeholders.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in structural design or a related engineering role.
