Job Description
The Strategy and Excellence Director is responsible for the development of the GDMO strategy, cascading the strategic objectives and initiatives across the GDMO departments. He/she is also responsible for the development of organizational capability to ensure departments are equipped to deliver against customer needs as well as the GDMO strategic vision. Additionally, the role holder is responsible for efficiency and effectiveness improvement initiatives across GDMO, including digitization, automation, KPI development and tracking and documentation of processes. The role supports the GDMO departments through project management and change management – from developing the governance structure to collaborating with departments to implement initiatives. The role holder is expected to demonstrate leadership skills, strategic thinking, financial and budget management acumen and carry out his/her duties in accordance with the relevant business policies and procedures.

General Responsibilities
- Develop the strategy for the Strategy and Excellence department, such that it supports the overall GDMO vision, direction and strategic objectives
- Ensure the successful implementation of the strategic vision for Strategy and Excellence, to achieve the strategic objectives set out for the department in line with the overall GDMO strategic vision
- Lead the Strategy and Excellence department to deliver the objectives set out in alignment with the GDMO vision, direction and strategic objectives
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Directors across GDMO, working together when needed to support and deliver the GDMO strategy
- Develop and manage the Strategy and Excellence budget, working with Finance to secure funds and ensuring proper tracking of the allocated budgets throughout the year
Develop talent within Strategy and Excellence, focusing on soft skills as well as technical skills development
Strategy Development
- Establish GDMO's strategic vision and the activities to enable it to reach those goals across the departments and through communications strategies for the accounts/customers it serves
- Develop GDMO's strategy, mission statement, departmental strategies and departmental goals and communicate these internally to Directors and employees and externally to Leadership, stakeholders, B2B accounts, media entities and partners/collaborators
- Define and evaluate strategic options such as outsourcing, partnering, obtaining sponsorships, enhancing processes, initiating improvement initiatives and developing new communications channels to achieve the objectives
- Formulate departmental strategies and objectives, aligning departments and processes to the overall GDMO strategy and determine the resources and skills required to deliver department goals
- Oversee the implementation of the strategic initiatives across GDMO
- Develop, evaluate and prioritize strategic initiatives beyond the scope of GDMO's routine operations and allocate them across the departments
- Develop the business model in alignment with the business strategy, and establish business model governance and control mechanisms to ensure that the business model is adhered to through the implementation of the business strategy
Revisit, maintain or update the business model to reflect internal and external changes in media consumption trends, customer needs or government mandates
Organizational Capability Development
- Ensure a comprehensive gap analysis is conducted to identify which business activities currently meet the needs of customers and media entities and where the gaps are in meeting those needs

Partner with departments to collaborate on and document improvement initiatives, such as policy development, framework development, criteria identification, etc
Organization Design and Development
- Conduct organization restructuring opportunities to align with the strategic vision and provide the skills, roles, processes and capabilities required, working with internal audit and external consultants as needed
Create and communicate the organizational design to meet the objectives, including structure, processes, roles, governance, reporting, resources, support functions and responsibilities
Efficiency and Effectiveness
- Identify process improvement initiatives to promote efficiency and effectiveness, and provide frameworks within which departments can more effectively deliver their work
- Lead the review and proposal of digitization and automation initiatives/projects across GDMO and the individual departments
- Ensure the prioritization and implementation of process improvement initiatives across GDMO to promote efficiency and effectiveness
Ensure the development of process management governance, process mapping and improvement approaches, tools and templates, and the development of a repository of GDMO's processes and process maps
Improvement Initiatives
- Design and implement improvement initiative projects in collaboration with GDMO departments and other Directors
- Lead the development of projects and project governance of improvement initiatives, including scope, project objectives and progress, reporting them regularly to the Director General and the relevant Director(s)
- For projects within the scope of Strategy & Excellence, lead the execution of projects in collaboration with GDMO departments
- Oversee the execution of projects by GDMO departments, reviewing the implementation, achievement of milestones, activities and overall project approach
Develop the framework for change management, with regards to the implementation of projects and ensure thorough management of the change process
Measurement and Tracking
- Ensure departments across GDMO have been assigned KPIs to measure their performance for strategic objectives as well as project-based strategic initiatives
- Lead the development of a monthly, quarterly and annual reporting framework for department KPIs, and ensure that corrective action is highlighted where needed to achieve KPI targets
- Ensure monthly, quarterly and annual GDMO KPI reports are prepared for the Director General

Qualifications
Experience Required
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with at least 4 - 5 years in a similar role
- A minimum of 7 years leading and managing teams
- A minimum of 3 years managing a budget
Education And Qualification Required
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management or Industrial Engineering
