Job Description

As a Store Keeper in the construction industry, you will play a crucial role in managing the inventory and supplies essential to project success. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the receipt, storage, and issuance of a wide range of materials and tools used in various construction projects. This requires strict attention to detail to ensure accurate record-keeping of stock levels and ensuring the right materials are available when needed. A Store Keeper ensures that materials are stored safely, well-organized, and easily accessible. You will collaborate closely with project managers, procurement teams, and construction workers to provide efficient logistical support, facilitating timely and cost-effective construction operations. Your efforts will contribute directly to minimizing delays and maximizing productivity on site.


Responsibilities

  • Receive, document, and verify accuracy of all incoming construction materials and supplies.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate inventory records to track all stored materials.
  • Organize and store construction materials in a safe and accessible manner.
  • Monitor inventory levels and initiate reorders to prevent shortages.
  • Coordinate with project managers for timely issuance of materials required on site.
  • Supervise and train staff in store operations and inventory management procedures.
  • Implement and monitor systems for tracking and managing inventory effectively.
  • Conduct regular audits of inventory to validate physical counts against records.
  • Ensure all material handling equipment is maintained and in safe working condition.
  • Maintain a clean and organized storage environment to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Liaise with suppliers and vendors to reconcile any discrepancies in deliveries.
  • Prepare detailed reports on inventory status and discrepancies for management review.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is a basic educational requirement.
  • Previous experience in inventory management, ideally within the construction industry.
  • Proficient in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to maintaining accuracy in records.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with varied teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and operate materials handling equipment safely.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Capacity to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines.
