Job Description

The role of a Stock Controller in the sports industry is an exciting and dynamic position that involves managing inventory levels and ensuring that the right amount of product is available to meet customer demand. This position is integral to the smooth operation of any sports retailer or distributor, as it ensures that stock levels are aligned with sales activities and future demand forecasts. The Stock Controller is responsible for maintaining inventory records, conducting regular stock checks, and identifying discrepancies in stock data. They collaborate closely with suppliers, sales teams, and warehouse staff to optimize stock levels and minimize over or understocking. An individual in this role would thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a keen eye for detail and analytics, ensuring the company's products are always in the right place at the right time for consumers.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze sales data to anticipate future inventory needs and adjust stocks accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory and ensure data integrity in all stock systems.
  • Conduct regular audits and stock checks to reconcile physical and system counts.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and optimal stock levels.
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams to manage stock organization and storage procedures.
  • Develop and implement stock control policies and systems for improved efficiency.
  • Identify, report, and resolve any stock discrepancies or losses promptly.
  • Manage product allocations across locations to optimize inventory balance.
  • Track and manage inventory costs to support budgeting and financial planning.
  • Prepare detailed inventory reports for management and sales teams regularly.
  • Provide support to purchasing teams to make informed ordering decisions.
  • Oversee returns and manage stock adjustments to minimize waste and loss.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in inventory management, preferably in the sports industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in inventory management software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and communicate effectively.
  • Proven problem-solving skills to manage and resolve stock discrepancies.
