Job Description

A Stock Controller is a crucial role within the supply chain and inventory management process. This position is responsible for ensuring that the inventory is effectively managed and meets the company's requirements. Stock controllers help to prevent overstocking and stockouts, ensuring that the correct amount of products are available to fulfill customer orders. The role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to forecast inventory needs accurately. The Stock Controller will work closely with other departments such as purchasing, sales, and logistics to ensure the seamless flow of products and materials throughout the organization. This role is vital for optimizing inventory costs and maximizing customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor stock levels and document any scarcity or surplus in inventory.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and raw materials.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure inventory accuracy and integrity.
  • Utilize inventory management software to track and manage stock levels effectively.
  • Prepare and analyze reports detailing inventory status and discrepancies.
  • Implement and maintain stock control and inventory procedures.
  • Work closely with the purchasing team to align inventory levels with demand forecasts.
  • Identify and resolve any issues related to stock discrepancies and variances.
  • Assist in developing strategies to minimize inventory costs and improve turnover rates.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of transfers and disposals of inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the storage of stock.
  • Liaise with warehouse staff to improve stock management efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in stock control or inventory management roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective supplier and departmental interaction.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management and forecasting software tools.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of supply chain, warehousing, and logistics operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field preferred.
