Job Description

The Stock Controller position is a crucial role within the supply chain operations of any company, ensuring that inventory levels are maintained accurately and efficiently. The primary objective of a Stock Controller is to manage inventory with precision, allowing for smooth operational processes and minimizing financial losses due to inventory discrepancies. This role is pivotal in enhancing the company's supply chain performance by optimizing stock levels, monitoring inventory movement, and preventing shortages or overstocking. Working closely with procurement, logistics, and sales teams, the Stock Controller will play an integral part in ensuring that orders are fulfilled on time and in accordance with client expectations while maintaining cost-efficiency. A successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent analytical skills, and a robust understanding of inventory management systems.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain stock levels to ensure they meet business needs efficiently at all times.
  • Conduct regular and precise stock audits to verify inventory accuracy and report any discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage and handling of inventory items.
  • Identify and investigate inventory shortages or issues promptly and formulate resolutions.
  • Assist with the implementation and improvement of stock control systems and processes.
  • Coordinate with procurement staff to reorder stock before it reaches critical low levels.
  • Generate detailed reports on stock status, inventory movements, and demand forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards regarding inventory storage and management.
  • Analyze data to anticipate future inventory needs based on trends and seasonal demand shifts.
  • Communicate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and address any discrepancies.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on inventory practices and systems as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including suppliers and internal teams.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in inventory management, logistics, or supply chain roles.
  • Strong proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to multitask effectively.
  • Keen attention to detail and high level of accuracy are essential.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and act on data trends.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field preferred.
