INTECH Process Automation is looking for a Sr. Telecom Technician to join our dynamic Operations & Maintenance department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shall be capable to provide telecommunication technical service support of all telecom systems.
- Shall attend all activities required for the new telecom installation systems or any modification of the existing telecom facilities / systems (e.g., installation, commissioning, maintenance, review documents, technical evaluation, attend meetings, prepare the as-built documents, etc.)
- Shall be familiar with the rules and procedures for initiating the permits to work and all the PTW types (e.g., Hot PTW, cold PTW, working at heights, etc.) as the technical personnel will act as Performer, performing authority and Area authority as and when needed, and shall possess all safety gear and certifications.
- Shall be familiar with the safety/HSE roles and procedures for all locations.
- Cover the telecom service support for other companies that have telecom services.
- Shall be capable to tackle telecom system rectifications in a professional and effective manner.
- Carry out fault-finding analysis in Telecom systems using proper test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers, etc.) with the correct approach to identify the fault, repair it & restore normal operational parameters of the system with minimum downtime.
- Shall be familiar with & have robust technical understanding and skills to work with different types of cables, antennas, connectors, adapters, etc. used with telecom systems.
- The ability to handle component level rectification of telecom equipment.
- Shall be attending all daily telecom operation requirements within site.
- Perform timely scheduling of corrective maintenance service covering telecommunication equipment onsite, prepare PM maintenance schedule and carry out scheduled preventive maintenance activities for Telecom systems (as and when needed), identify operational gaps, rectify them as per system operational specs/parameters & manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Initiate and participate in investigations related to radio frequency interference and propose technical solutions to such problems for review and discussion with complainant.
- Identify requirements of telecommunication spares, consumables and specialized test instruments and initiate requests for required items.
- Operation of inclinometer and other alignment tools.
- Provide technical support education and transfer experience to new technical staff.
- Professional use of the proper hand tools and specialized testing instruments for calibration services and system testing purposes should be guaranteed in all tasks.
- Record all performed activities as per the procedures and notify supervisor of any serious faults or abnormal conditions when carrying out tests and repairs.
- Ensure all tests are according to the manufacturers (OEM) specifications/parameters and are in accordance/compliance with the standards/procedures.
- Carry out final testing as assigned by the supervisor, recording data on control sheets, and referring to manufacturer’s procedures, manuals and circuit diagrams as required.
- Maintaining the required housekeeping standards and ensuring full compliance of the executed work with HSE standards at all the times.
Requirements:
Education:
- Diploma in Telecommunication, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related technical field.
- Relevant technical certifications in telecom systems or networking are an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience in telecom systems, preferably in oil & gas / industrial O&M environments.
- Proven experience in installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecom systems.
- Experience working under PTW system and strict HSE environments.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of telecom systems, including:
1 - Radio systems (VHF/UHF/HF).
2 - Fiber optics & structured cabling.
3 - IP telephony, PABX, and network infrastructure.
4 - CCTV, access control, and integrated telecom systems.
- Hands-on experience with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, OTDR, and cable testers.
- Ability to perform fault finding, root cause analysis, and component-level repairs.
- Familiarity with telecom hardware (cables, antennas, connectors, adapters, etc.).
- Knowledge of RF interference analysis and resolution techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and circuit diagrams.
Maintenance & Operations:
- Strong experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of telecom systems.
- Ability to prepare and execute maintenance schedules and ensure system reliability.
- Skilled in maintaining logs, reports, and documentation of maintenance activities.
- Experience in identifying system gaps and implementing corrective actions.
Installation & Commissioning:
- Experience in new installations, system upgrades, and modifications.
- Ability to support commissioning, testing, and final system acceptance.
- Experience in preparing as-built drawings and documentation.
Safety & Compliance:
- Strong knowledge of HSE standards and procedures.
- Hands-on experience with Permit to Work (PTW) system (Hot Work, Cold Work, Work at Height, etc.).
- Ability to act as Performer / Performing Authority / Area Authority.
Soft Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations.
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to work in offshore environments.
- Availability for on-call support and emergency breakdown response.
- Good physical/mental health condition to handle fieldwork activities.
