Senior Principal Architect, Presales Engineering Service Provider HPE Segment
We are seeking a Senior Principal Architect, Presales Engineering for the HPE Networking Service Provider organization. Systems engineering is about building the future. What Youll Do
Support AI Grid Strategy: Contribute to the design and execution of "AI Grid" initiatives, working alongside distinguished architects to help Service Providers build high-performance compute and networking fabrics for distributed AI workloads.
Architect Edge AI Solutions: Design low-latency networking architectures to support Inferencing at the Edge, enabling SPs to deliver AI services closer to the end-user with minimal jitter and strong throughput.
Optimize AI Infrastructure: Articulate the value of specialized AI/ML networking, including the deployment of RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCEv2) and InfiniBand-to-Ethernet transitions within the Modern Datacenter.
End-to-End AI Design: Participate in the architecture of end-to-end Networking Infrastructure supporting both the Front-end (management/client) and Back-end (GPU-to-GPU) AI clusters.
Technical Advisory: Advise Sales Engineers and partners on the transition from traditional SP routing to AI-Optimized WAN and Fabric solutions, helping customers meet their requirements for scale and predictive analytics.
Ecosystem Collaboration: Engage with Silicon providers, AI software innovators, and Integrators to address emerging AI-scale challenges across multi-tenant environments.
AI Networking Design: Design solutions that address Job Completion Time (JCT) metrics relevant to AI training customers, working within established architectural frameworks.
Deal Support: In complex Networking Infrastructure deals, support the end-to-end technical solution by collaborating with Distinguished Technologists, Specialists, and Product Management to deliver well-integrated responses.
Technical Validation: Deliver Demos and Proof of Concept engagements and clearly articulate the value proposition aligned to specific customer use cases.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with technical decision makers and senior engineering leaders within key customer accounts, supporting smooth knowledge transfer to delivery teams.
Solution Economics: Contribute to the sizing, design, configuration, and pricing of technical solutions using industry best practices and established frameworks.
What You Need To Bring
AI/ML Networking Expertise: Solid experience designing networks for AI clusters, with working knowledge of lossless Ethernet, congestion control algorithms (PFC, ECN), and load-balancing techniques specific to AI traffic patterns.
Edge & Distributed Compute Knowledge: Familiarity with MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing) and its intersection with AI inferencing models and 5G transport.
Advanced Network Design: 12+ years of experience in Network Infrastructure Design, with at least 2-3 years focused on Hyperscale Datacenter or Cloud-Scale SP architectures.
Modern Protocol Fluency: Hands-on experience with JunOS, EOS, or IOS (certifications preferred), with working knowledge of EVPN-VXLAN, Segment Routing (SRv6), and telemetry-driven automation.
Systems Thinking: Ability to connect hardware (GPU/NIC/Switch) and software (AI Frameworks, Kubernetes, Virtualization) considerations to support a cohesive AI Fabric design.
Domain Expertise: Experience translating technical networking solutions into business value narratives for director and VP-level stakeholders.
Professional Presence: Strong communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with technical decision makers and senior engineering leaders in client organizations.
Sales Support: Experience contributing to RFP and Tender response documents, including bill of materials and solution documentation.
Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with SMEs, specialists, and engineering resources within a matrixed presales environment.
Minimum Qualifications
12+ years of relevant industry experience in Cloud and Networking Infrastructure, routing, and switching domains, with hands-on knowledge in several of the following:
