The Sr. Engineering Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing IT projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. The Sr. Engineering Manager will ensure that the technology infrastructure supports current business operations and future growth. As a leader in the organization, you also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.
Role & Responsibilities
Project Planning and Management:
Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members.
Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
Product & Solutions Architect Skills
Collaborate with product teams to ensure project outcomes align with product strategies and roadmaps.
Utilize product management techniques to prioritize project features and deliverables based on client and stakeholder needs.
Design and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance tech solutions that meet business requirements.
Evaluate and recommend technologies and tools to enhance the product and tech solution architecture.
Ensure tech solution integrity and consistency across the project lifecycle.
Communication And Stakeholder Management
Actively involved in stakeholder management, both internal and external partners / business clients.
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
Build, develop, and grow business relationships vital to the success of the project.
Facilitate effective communication with external clients and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
Innovative Thinking
Encourage and implement innovative solutions to meet project goals and enhance product offerings.
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation within projects.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and manage the technology team, including software developers, IT staff, and systems engineers.
Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
Budget Management
Manage the technology budget and resources, ensuring projects are delivered within scope and budget.
Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
Track project costs to meet budget.
Quality Assurance
Conduct project post-mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
Leadership Responsibilities
Develop and execute the company’s technology strategy, aligned with business objectives in the courier and logistics sector.
Oversee all aspects of technology operations, including infrastructure, applications, and data management.
Oversee the integration (internal and External) of ERP, logistics software, including transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and other operational tools.
Collaborate with operations teams to identify technology needs and develop solutions that improve delivery speed, accuracy, and cost-efficiency.
Oversee cybersecurity initiatives to protect sensitive data and maintain the integrity of operational systems.
Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure that the company receives the best value for its technology investments.
Act as the main point of contact for all technology-related matters within the company and externally, particularly with customers.
Experience & Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is a MUST.
Master’s degree or PMP certification is a PLUS.
Minimum 5+yrs people management as Engineering Manager
Minimum 5+ yrs project management in Logistics Industry vertical
Proven experience in project management in the IT sector is a MUST.
Industry experience in Logistics, E-Commerce, Retail Chains, Distribution, Supply Chain domains is a MUST
Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices is a MUST
Experience with managing teams and resources in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
Strong working knowledge of relevant project management tools is a MUST
Required Skills
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies is a MUST
Knowledge of IT infrastructure and cloud technologies is a MUST
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is a MUST
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges is a MUST
Demonstrated experience in product management and innovative thinking
