Brief Job Description:

  • As an Snr Mechanical Design Engineer within the LV Switchgear R&D team, you will assist in design of and improvement design for LV Switchgear. This will be done in preparation for and during prototype testing for same. You will collaborate with local Engineering team and with R&D manager/colleagues in these designs. You will assist is setting up of tests for temperature rise testing and other applicable test recording. You will formally record test results, etc to create reports for each test performed.

Responsibilities and Measurement Criteria with Time investment Needed on Each:

  • Design mechanical solutions (LV Switchgear IEC)
  • Analyze and resolve product-related technical issues, improving designs to simplify assembly, reduce costs, and enhance quality and performance.
  • Strong CAD skills with attention to detail.
  • Work with Engineering, Procurement, Planning, and colleagues
  • Updates on improvements and therefore product BOMs to be formally replayed back to engineering.
  • Gain knowledge of IEC 61439 Standards requirements including specific testing criteria for compliance of the equipment to the standard.

Qualifications

Required/ Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as Mechanical Engineer in the scope of LV Switchgear.
  • Some exposure to prototype test including Thermal Temperature Rise testing and other IEC 61439 testing
  • Process Skills: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • English: Fluent preferred; intermediate acceptable.
  • Professionalism: Accuracy, results-oriented, good planning, and information management.
  • Teamwork: Mandatory teamwork attitude.
  • Communication: Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Initiative: Works independently, motivated to take on new challenges.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering; a bachelors degree is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Good understanding of IEC 61439 testing especially Thermal
  • Process Skills: Strong focus on continuous improvement and structural process capabilities.
  • Communication: Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Initiative: Works independently with strong motivation to take on new challenges.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrates accuracy, results-oriented mindset, and professional demeanor in all tasks.
