Responsibilities

  • Keep abreast of emerging accounting standards impacting the BU value chain.
  • Support process excellence and controls improvement agenda in BU
  • Assist with special projects from finance on all key initiatives delegated by Group Finance and pro-actively support
  • Implement changes to internal processes to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Assist with the implementation of financial controls and standards set out by the Group.
  • Support financial close activities and financial reporting in the BU and collaborate with Finance SSC in due course.
  • Support Project / development controlling.
  • Responsible for accuracy and completeness of respective financial records.
  • Assist with the coordination of internal and external audit in BU.
  • Resolve mismatches in intercompany balances impacting BU.
  • Monitor the asset register, ensuring accuracy and completeness and conduct regular asset valuations and impairment reviews.
  • Oversee inventory accounting and ensure accurate inventory valuation and Implement inventory control procedures to minimize losses and discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with operations to ensure optimal inventory levels and turnover.
  • Manage VAT compliance, including preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  • Collaborate with Tax Business Partner to ensure Tax compliance of the BU.
  • Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors during audits and reviews
  • Work closely with other departments, including operations, legal, and external auditors.
  • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of financial controllers to ensure financial control activities are conducted credibly and that recommendations and reports are accurate and timely.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree i.e. Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting or similar.
  • Relevant professional qualification i.e. Chartered Accountant (CPA, ACCA, CA and similar), CIMA/CMA, CFA
  • 4-7 years of total work experience in a similar role
  • Financial reporting and accounting standards (IFRS)
  • Financial controls and governance
  • Finance operations and respective processes
  • Broad understanding of ERP systems in the context of how they enable Finance operations and processes execution; exposure to MS Dynamics is a plus
  • Strong critical thinking and strategy development skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Personal gravitas and ability to interact with senior leadership of an organisation
