Job Description

A Sonographer, also known as an ultrasound technician, is a highly skilled professional responsible for operating sonography equipment to capture images of various parts of the body. These images are essential for diagnosing and treating different medical conditions. The role demands strong attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work closely with patients to provide high-quality service. In this role as a Sonographer 11N25, you will be working in a dynamic healthcare environment that values precision and empathy during patient interactions. You will work with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers, contributing to comprehensive patient care through advanced imaging techniques.


Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures to obtain accurate and quality images.
  • Analyze ultrasound data and report findings to the attending physician promptly.
  • Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment to ensure efficient operations.
  • Assist physicians during ultrasound-guided procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • Explain ultrasound procedure to patients to ensure understanding and comfort.
  • Document patient information and maintain records with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Ensure the ultrasound room and equipment are clean and sterile before use.
  • Adjust technical settings on equipment based on specific diagnostic requirements.
  • Manage multiple patient appointments and ensure timely service delivery.
  • Provide exceptional patient care and manage sensitive situations empathetically.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in ultrasound imaging technology.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain certification and improve skills.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field required.
  • Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience as a practicing ultrasound technician essential.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy and pathology applicable to ultrasound imaging.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Proficiency in operating advanced ultrasound equipment under varying conditions.
  • Ability to remain focused and calm in fast-paced medical environments.
