Software Development Engineer Unified Content Processing Platform

Description

Unified Content Processing Platform (part of Compliance Safety Services) is looking for a Software Development Engineer to build software systems that provide a safe shopping experience for Amazon customers, validate regulatory compliance across our supply chain, and make achieving compliance simpler for selling partners.

We research, innovate, advance the state-of-the-art, and build ML systems to proactively identify safety and compliance risks in Amazon’s retail business. We leverage computer vision and NLP to enable the analysis, validation and data extraction from aggregated volumes of tens of millions of documents and images (such as safety datasheets, declarations of conformity, product labels) in Amazon catalog across all marketplaces. We envision and build best in class media processing platform and tools that enable us to meet our objectives and scale cost effectively, as we continue to expand into newer and complex businesses and grow our selection.

The ideal candidate will be eager to work in a team of innovators and contribute to a suite of tools that power automating and scalable content processing with the end goal of providing Amazon shoppers and sellers with a frictionless and trustworthy shopping and selling experience. You will be working in an Agile mode, collaborating with product management and partner teams to iterate at a fast pace and delight our end users.

Key job responsibilities

• designing, developing and maintaining micro-services hosted in AWS;
• adding new front-end features to existing tools;
• improving performance and operational costs;
• researching solutions for technically ambiguous problems;
• mentoring other engineers.

Compliance Safety Services (CoSS) vision is to provide best-in-class automation of controls for internal compliance and business programs (our primary customers) to lower costs in the Amazon flywheel on behalf of our end customers: buyers and selling partners. We provide easy-to-use shared services with data privacy, security and tenant isolation across all stages, while continuously raising industry standards for automation performance and cost efficiency, giving our program customers confidence that they have access to optimal cost-efficient automation options to better serve their end customers.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
