Site Technician

The Construction Technician plays a crucial role in the successful execution of various construction projects. As a fundamental participant in the development and maintenance of infrastructures, this professional is responsible for implementing and supervising a wide range of construction activities under the guidance of a construction manager or project supervisor. A competence in both practical construction skills and administrative tasks makes the Construction Technician critical in ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

• Interpreting and implementing plans and specifications from engineers and architects.
• Assisting in the coordination and monitoring of various subcontractors and construction workers.
• Ensuring that all building regulations, safety codes, and health standards are adhered to strictly.
• Conducting on-site inspections and reviewing construction materials to validate quality and adherence to specifications.
• Maintaining detailed records of construction processes, incidents, and progress reports for senior stakeholder review.
• Operating and maintaining construction equipment and tools.
• Assisting with surveying and setting up equipment and sites for construction.
• Providing technical advice and solving problems on-site.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with managing onsite labourers and staff and getting the work done. 
• Ensuring all deadlines are adhered to and use necessary skills to meet the deadlines. 

Skills

• A high school diploma or equivalent; however, a post-secondary diploma or degree in construction technology, civil engineering, or a related field is highly advantageous.
• Technical training and certification in construction, building technology, or other relevant fields. Certifications like OSHA hazard recognition training are commonly required.
• An understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations. Familiarity with CAD software and other construction-related technologies is beneficial.
• Experience in a construction role or internship can be critical for gaining practical skills in the field.
