Job Description

As a Service Advisor in the automotive industry, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our customers have a seamless and satisfying experience when they visit our service department. Your primary responsibility will be to act as a liaison between customers and the automotive technicians. You will be tasked with discussing vehicle issues and maintenance needs with clients, providing them with estimates and timelines, and ensuring they understand the work that needs to be performed on their vehicles. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential, as you will be the face of our service department. Your ability to build trust and rapport with clients will be key to meeting customer satisfaction and retention goals. Additionally, a good understanding of automotive technology and a knack for problem-solving are beneficial in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Greet customers promptly and courteously when they arrive at the service department.
  • Listen to customer concerns and vehicle symptoms to accurately document service needs.
  • Communicate effectively with technicians to convey customer service issues and vehicle information.
  • Prepare detailed repair orders, estimate costs, and monitor progress of the service work.
  • Provide accurate and timely updates to customers regarding service status and changes.
  • Explain the recommended service work and answer any questions customers may have.
  • Advise customers on necessary maintenance and projected future vehicle needs.
  • Ensure a smooth and efficient flow of communication between the service department and other departments.
  • Resolve customer complaints within a timely and satisfactory manner maintaining company standards.
  • Maintain service records and ensure that all customer information is accurately logged in the database.
  • Upsell additional products and services as appropriate to enhance customer satisfaction and revenue.
  • Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and address any remaining concerns.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college education preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a customer service or automotive role.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems and repair procedures is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with customers and team members in the service department.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and software related to service management.
