Job Description

The Service Advisor (Job Code: 07N25) plays a crucial role as the intermediary between customers and the service department. The position requires both technical knowledge and exemplary customer service skills to provide assistance in diagnosing vehicle problems and arranging appropriate repairs. The Service Advisor ensures that every customer is given a complete explanation of the repair process and is updated on the progress of their vehicle. With a focus on customer satisfaction, the Service Advisor must balance the customers’ requests and the workshop’s capacity, effectively coordinating appointments and ensuring a seamless flow of communication between customers and the service team. This role is pivotal in retaining customer confidence and building long-term relationships through trust and transparency.


Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly and listen to their concerns regarding vehicle issues.
  • Act as the liaison between customers and the service technicians in the workshop.
  • Assess vehicle conditions by conducting visual inspections and driving tests.
  • Prepare detailed estimates of repair costs and timeframes required for service completion.
  • Coordinate with the service department to efficiently schedule vehicle repairs.
  • Keep customers informed on the status and progress of their vehicle services.
  • Upsell additional services by clearly explaining benefits and required maintenance.
  • Ensure quality control by inspecting the final work and conducting test drives if necessary.
  • Handle customer complaints and resolve concerns quickly and effectively.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all customer interactions and service history.
  • Provide technical advice regarding the service and maintenance of vehicles.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and company policies during service operations.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum educational requirement.
  • Prior experience in an automotive environment, preferably in a service advisor role.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate technical information to customers clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple appointments and service tasks efficiently.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics and repair processes to advise customers accurately.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and service management software applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle customer complaints diplomatically.
