Job Description

The Service Advisor is a pivotal role within the automotive service industry, providing a critical interface between customers and the service team. In this role, you will be responsible for liaising with customers regarding their vehicle service needs, explaining the service process, and ensuring their expectations are managed and met. You will also be responsible for coordinating with the service team to ensure that all vehicle service and repair tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. A successful Service Advisor will possess excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, and have a strong ability to work under pressure while maintaining a customer-focused attitude. Additionally, familiarity with automotive services and systems is beneficial to troubleshoot issues effectively and provide insightful advice to clients.


Responsibilities

  • Greet customers promptly and ascertain their needs through active listening.
  • Prepare detailed work orders and convey requests to service technicians accurately.
  • Communicate daily with customers regarding their vehicle's repair status and costs.
  • Provide estimates and discuss various service options to meet customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with the parts department to ensure timely availability of necessary components.
  • Maintain an updated knowledge of automotive systems to assist customers effectively.
  • Manage the customer’s journey from vehicle check-in to post-service follow-up.
  • Maintain comprehensive service records and ensure data accuracy within the system.
  • Handle and resolve customer inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Promote additional products or services to enhance vehicle performance where appropriate.
  • Ensure the service department complies with regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with technicians and service managers to ensure seamless operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education preferable.
  • Proven experience in a Service Advisor role within the automotive industry.
  • Strong understanding of automotive technology and workshop safety practices.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
  • Proficiency in standard computing applications and dealership management systems.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
