Senior Technical Software Engineer - Java Fullstack

The Senior Technical Software Engineer is a fully participating member of an agile feature team who works independently on software development and problem resolution. The role involves technical design, software development, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions/products that support the Emirates Group Business.

In This Role, You Will

• Collaborate with the team to deliver technical design, development and deployment of complex solutions within relevant product.
• Carry out effective technical design reviews to ensure that the right architecture patterns are used by the team.
• Drive the adoption of Engineering practices , implement development process automation, lean software development, built-in-quality, test driven development, agile practices, and timely root cause analysis and blameless incident post-mortems.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to determine viability of solutions.
• Evaluate current problems, future requirements and existing solutions in medium to large projects to enable high level design and drive proof-of-concepts and implement prototypes to validate ideas.
• Investigate, debug and fix complex issues involving corner cases and rare conditions.
• Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and new technologies and presenting these for architectural review.
• Contribute to sprint/work design and planning by providing subject matter expertise on business domain and relevant technologies and actively contribute to technology specific community of practices.
• Manage and mentor Software Engineers to allow for skill/knowledge development through advice, coaching, and training opportunities.
• Responsible for their technical deliveries and adherence to design and coding standards and practices.
• Ensure optimal use of enterprise application platforms, tools and libraries in line with the approved technology architecture.
• Responsible for corrective, adaptive, preventative and perfective maintenance of products in collaboration with other capabilities for the relevant product.
  
  

Qualification

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in application development using Java (versions 8, 11, or 17) with Spring Boot and familiarity with code quality tools such as SonarQube and ShiftLeft.
• Strong expertise in Java frameworks and libraries including Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring WebFlux, JPA, Hibernate, and test frameworks (JUnit/TestNG).
• Experience with front-end technologies such as ReactJS and NextJS for building user interfaces.
• Proficiency in messaging and integration technologies including Solace, Tibco, and Kafka, and familiarity with Netflix OSS components.
• Hands-on experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift, and knowledge of hybrid cloud architecture (AWS, Azure).
• Database expertise in Oracle SQL or similar RDBMS, NoSQL databases, and building RESTful API services.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and DevOps principles with experience in lean software development, test-driven development, and automated deployments.
• Ability to design and implement event-driven architectures, reactive programming solutions, and scalable systems following SRE principles and code review best practices.
• Experience in technology evaluation, vendor selection, and managing technology platforms for DevOps including data pipelines, code management, and continuous integration/deployment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, agile development experience, and ability to provide production support for business-critical applications.
