Role Overview

Zutari is seeking a Senior Sustainability Consultant to lead the delivery of sustainability advisory and certification services across projects in the UAE, working with frameworks including Estidama, Al Sa’fat, LEED, WELL, and Barjeel. The role involves developing sustainability strategies, leading coordination with multidisciplinary design teams, managing authority and certification submissions, and overseeing sustainability implementation through design and construction stages.

Pipeline Opportunity: This role forms part of our forward hiring plan for anticipated workload. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and interviews/offer timing may extend over the next few months.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Estidama, Al Sa’fat, LEED, WELL, and Barjeel sustainability strategies aligned with project sustainability aspirations and client objectives.
  • Lead sustainability workshops with architects, MEP engineers, and other design disciplines to explain requirements and develop compliance strategies.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to manage and collate authority and certification submission packages.
  • Provide technical input on innovative sustainable design strategies, systems, and features.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure sustainability targets are met and projects remain on track to achieve targeted rating levels.
  • Prepare, review, and manage sustainability documentation and submittals across all project stages, ensuring technical quality and completeness.
  • Review design drawings, specifications, and technical documents for compliance with sustainability requirements.
  • Carry out and/or review Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies and support carbon-related assessments where required.
  • Conduct sustainability site inspections, audits, and reviews during construction to verify implementation of sustainability measures.
  • Liaise with contractors and Contractor Sustainability Managers on construction-stage sustainability requirements.
  • Support responses to authority and certification review comments.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Sustainability Consultants and junior team members.
  • Support proposals, repeat work, and client engagement as required.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field; post-graduate qualification desirable.
  • Typically, 6–8+ years of relevant sustainability experience within a consultancy environment.
  • Proven experience delivering sustainability strategies and certifications on projects in the UAE.
  • Strong working knowledge of Estidama, Al Sa’fat, LEED, WELL, and Barjeel.
  • Demonstrated experience leading sustainability workshops and authority-facing submissions.
  • Experience with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and sustainability performance assessments is an advantage.
  • Strong technical, report-writing, and client-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with sustainability tools and submission platforms is advantageous.
  • Professional credentials such as LEED AP, WELL AP, Estidama PQP, or equivalent are required or strongly preferred.
