The purpose of an Senior Specialist Business Analysis role is to bridge the gap between business objectives and technology solutions within an organization. Senior Specialist Business Analysis are responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying areas for improvement, and determining how technology can be leveraged to optimize operations, increase efficiency, and achieve strategic goals. The candidates primary objective is to understand the needs and requirements of various business stakeholders and translate them into clear and actionable specifications for IT systems or software development & digital delivery teams.

Strategic

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The strategic role of an Senior Specialist Business Analysis is to act as a trusted advisor to the business, leveraging their analytical, technical, and communication skills to identify opportunities for improvement, drive innovation, and facilitate the successful delivery of technology solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • The EVP IT Ventures and Foods & Resources is accountable for defining IT strategy and road-map for the respective business verticals.
  • There is a dedicated IT Business Partner and Business Analyst role managing IT requirements for ventures business vertical.
  • Therefore there is need to have a Senior Specialist Business Analysis role to manage the IT requirements for Foods and Resources business vertical.
  • Being one of the biggest business vertical, Foods and resources business operations are spread across UAE, Sri Lanka and Sudan.
  • In Jan 2023 Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations was implemented at UAE and currently enhancements and automations are being implemented to drive operational efficiencies.
  • Internal IT Team is also mobilising the projects to roll-out UAE solution in Sudan and Sri Lanka.
  • Separately, in the road-map the business is expecting to implement commercial maritime freight management solution, commodity trading and risk management solution and sales & operations planning solution before the end of the year.

Operational

  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborating with business users, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to elicit, analyse, and document business requirements for new systems or enhancements to existing systems. This involves understanding business processes, identifying pain points or inefficiencies, and translating them into functional and technical specifications.
  • Process Analysis: Evaluating current business processes to identify areas for improvement or automation. Senior Specialist Business Analysis analyse workflows, identify bottlenecks, and propose streamlined processes that align with the organizations strategic objectives.
  • Solution Design: Working closely with technical teams to design appropriate technology solutions that meet business requirements. This involves creating system models, data flow diagrams, and user interface prototypes to communicate the desired functionality and user experience.
  • Data Analysis: Analysing data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform business decisions and requirements. Senior Specialist Business Analysis may perform data profiling, data mapping, and data modelling activities to ensure accurate and meaningful information is available for system design and development.
  • Stakeholder Management: Acting as a liaison between business users and technical teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. Senior Specialist Business Analysis facilitate discussions, manage expectations, and negotiate priorities to ensure that IT solutions align with business needs.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Collaborating with testing teams to develop test plans, test cases, and perform system testing to ensure that the developed solution meets the specified requirements. Senior Specialist Business Analysis also assist in user acceptance testing and support defect resolution.
  • Change Management: Supporting the implementation of new systems or process changes by coordinating training activities, creating user documentation, and providing ongoing support and guidance to end-users.`
  • Training and User Support: Providing training and user support to ensure that business stakeholders and end-users understand and can effectively use the implemented systems. Senior Specialist Business Analysis may develop training materials, conduct training sessions, and provide ongoing support to address user questions or issues.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Management: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation throughout the project life-cycle. Senior Specialist Business Analysis ensure that requirements, design specifications, test results, and other project-related information are properly documented and organized for future reference and knowledge sharing.

People Management

  • Facilitating Communication: Acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that information flows smoothly between different parties, helping to align expectations, clarify requirements, and address any conflicts or misunderstandings that may arise.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with business users, project managers, developers, testers, and other relevant stakeholders. They collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs, gain their trust, and obtain buy-in for project objectives and deliverables.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with developers, designers, architects, quality assurance teams, and other stakeholders. They coordinate activities, provide guidance, and foster a collaborative environment that promotes effective teamwork and knowledge sharing.
  • Conflict Resolution: Identifying and addressing conflicts promptly and constructively. They employ strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate dialogue, negotiate resolutions, and ensure that project progress is not impeded.
  • Leadership and Influence: Provide guidance, share expertise, and act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders and team members. By effectively communicating the business value of proposed solutions and building consensus, influence decision-making and drive project success.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Share their knowledge and experience with junior analysts or team members who require guidance. They may offer mentor-ship, provide feedback, and support professional development to enhance the skills and capabilities of individuals within the project team.

Product/Process Improvement

Qualifications

Education & Certifications:

  • PREFERRED: Masters in Finance, Business Management, IT or any other similar discipline.
  • MINIMUM: Bachelors in Finance, Business Management, IT or any other similar discipline.

Knowledge & Skill

  • Ability to plan, organize, and structure work.
  • Adept at working in an agile / hybrid delivery environment.
  • Proficient in resource and effort estimations, scoping, and analysis.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft applications including Project Online / MS Projects, MS Visio, Word, Excel & Outlook, and Azure DevOps.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Experience leading and developing top-performing teams.

Experience

  • PREFERRED: 10 Years of Business Analysis or Application Management role with specific focus in managing and delivering ERP applications.
  • MINIMUM: 8 Years of Business Analysis or Application Management role with specific focus in managing and delivering ERP applications.
