Context

The Senior Soft Mobility & Landscape Designer is responsible for leading the design and coordination of soft mobility and landscape solutions for metro and urban transit projects in the UAE. The role ensures the integration of pedestrian, cycling, first- and last-mile connectivity, public realm, and landscape design into station environments, corridors, and associated urban infrastructure. This position supports the delivery of safe, sustainable, context-responsive, and visually high-quality environments that enhance accessibility, user comfort, and overall passenger experience.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Lead the development of soft mobility and landscape design concepts, detailed designs, and construction documentation for metro corridors, stations, depot interfaces, and surrounding public realm areas.
  • Develop integrated pedestrian, cycling, micromobility, and landscape design solutions that improve first- and last-mile connectivity to metro stations.
  • Prepare urban realm and streetscape design proposals that respond to local context, user needs, accessibility principles, and placemaking objectives.
  • Coordinate with architects, urban designers, transport planners, civil engineers, utilities teams, rail systems teams, and environmental specialists to ensure fully integrated project delivery.
  • Liaise with clients, project managers, relevant authorities, and external consultants in the UAE to obtain design inputs, address comments, and resolve coordination challenges.
  • Ensure that all proposals comply with applicable UAE regulations, local authority requirements, sustainability standards, road and transport guidelines, and urban design policies.
  • Review drawings, reports, presentations, and technical submissions to ensure quality, accuracy, feasibility, and buildability.
  • Contribute to the development of design strategies for walkability, universal accessibility, shaded routes, active mobility infrastructure, and landscape enhancement around metro assets.
  • Support the selection of appropriate hardscape, softscape, street furniture, wayfinding integration, and public realm materials suited to the UAE climate and operational context.
  • Coordinate project deliverables, manage design packages, and monitor progress against programme, scope, and quality requirements.
  • Support stakeholder engagement activities by preparing clear design narratives, visuals, and presentation materials.
  • Contribute to business development, client relationship management, and the preparation of technical proposals for future mobility and public realm opportunities.

Profile/Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Architecture, or a related field.

Background

  • Minimum 8–12 years of relevant professional experience in landscape design, public realm, soft mobility, or urban infrastructure projects, preferably including metro, rail, or transit-oriented developments.
  • Proven experience in the design and coordination of landscape components for complex infrastructure projects.
  • Good knowledge of UAE local authority requirements, planning regulations, landscape standards, accessibility requirements, and transport design guidelines.
  • Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, or similar tools.
  • Experience with BIM workflows and multidisciplinary digital collaboration platforms.
  • Strong graphic, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present design ideas clearly to clients and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and manage design coordination on large, fast-paced projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of local (i.e., GCC and RTA) landscape, environmental, and Urban design planning regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of road design standards, including Right of Way (ROW) requirements and Dubai Municipality (DM) regulations.
  • Experience in managing and coordinating the NOC process for infrastructure projects, ensuring timely approvals and compliance with relevant authorities.
