Senior Risk Officer Middle East North Africa

Job Description

To drive and facilitate robust and effective end to end Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) credit risk management across Middle East North Africa (MENA), working in partnership with Country, regional and CIB business and Credit stakeholders in ensuring appropriate and strategically aligned risk appetite setting and fit for purpose credit risk capabilities, in line with the Credit Risk Management Framework.

The role requires the incumbent to have the following experience:

• Broad sector experience across Corporate and Investment Banking portfolios, with particular depth in Energy & Infrastructure and Financial Institutions (FI).
• Strong credit risk experience with demonstrated decision-making authority.
• Awareness of multiple risk disciplines, with the ability to understand how different risk types interact.
• Solid understanding of Country and Sovereign Risk, which is considered a critical requirement for the role.
• Strong knowledge of Financial Institutions (FI) Risk, including key sub-credit risk categories.
• Working knowledge of Non-Financial Risk is sufficient; deep technical expertise is not required.
• Strong understanding of the Dubai/UAE market, including local business, regulatory, and risk environment considerations, is essential.

Experience Required

More than 10 years experience in credit operations or credit portfolio management. Prior experience with credit workflow management tools and automated decisioning technology essential. An in-depth experience in CIB credit risk management and originating deals and building and maintaining internal stakeholder relationships with the aim of driving Business Strategy. An advanced understanding of scored lending and portfolio management is essential.
