Description: Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent Team: Housing Standards / HMO Are you looking for your next role? How about Regulatory Services? Regulatory Services is where legislation meets the real world. We are out across the city every day, in various locations such as; restaurants and retailunits, private rented homes, festivals and events,licensed premises and on the roadside, ensuring standards are met and risks are properly managed. We investigate complaints, carry out inspections, gather evidence and, where necessary, use our statutory powers to protect the public. It is visible work. It is practical. And it makes a tangible difference. This role focuses on Private Sector Housing, ensuring that Landlords meet the required standards for rental properties and houses in multiple occupation. The work ranges from advisory visits and compliance checks through to formal enforcement action and preparing and attending cases for court or hearings. Within this environment, a Senior Regulatory Officer provides professional leadership on complex investigations and high-risk enforcement cases, while overseeing the daily operations of the team and guiding colleagues to deliver consistent, high quality outcomes. The post holder will need to have good knowledge of the Renters Rights Act 2026 and provide advice and guidance to staff but also to Leicesters Landlords. The ability to prepare clear reports and statements for potential legal proceedings is essential, and you may be required to represent the Service and the Council at formal hearings. What you will be doing Using your expertise, youll matrix manage a team of enforcement officers, providing clear and concise technical advice to others. Youll monitor the work of individuals and inspire team performance as well as create opportunities to be innovative. Youll support team development and encourage autonomy to enable the team to do their best work. Youll have experience of dealing with complex cases and taking appropriate enforcement action including building and progressing cases for prosecution and/civil penalties. Youll also oversee some of the teams most complex cases. Youll analyse complex environmental health issues and other regulatory services related situations to make informed decisions. As an excellent communicator, youll be assertive when dealing with challenging situations or people to achieve positive outcomes. With a commitment to team working and a high level or organisation skills, youll effectively manage resources and activities to successfully develop individual and teams work programmes.
