Job Description

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the management and execution of construction projects, ensuring that these projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards. You will be responsible for cost estimation, contract administration, and financial control, ensuring effective cost management and maximizing profitability. This is a senior-level position requiring a deep understanding of construction processes, excellent numerical skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and other key stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution. Strong communication skills are essential as you will be responsible for negotiating contracts and influencing project decisions. Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and manage project budgets efficiently.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of projects.
  • Monitor and control project expenditures to stay within the budget limits.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with subcontractors and suppliers effectively.
  • Liaise with project managers to ensure cost control and risk management standards.
  • Evaluate project progress and work collaboratively to resolve any issues.
  • Prepare and present detailed financial reports to stakeholders as required.
  • Manage procurement processes and ensure materials are ordered timely.
  • Develop strategies for project cost reduction and value optimization.
  • Maintain and update cost databases for reference and use in future projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and contractual obligations throughout projects.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior quantity surveyors in the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in quantity surveying or cost management.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, contracts, and building regulations.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant project management software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills with an aptitude for numbers and detailed work.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a steady focus.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
  • Membership with a recognized professional body such as RICS is an advantage.
